1. Open your Game Library on Steam
2. Right-click on the GTA IV game
3. Select Properties from the menu
4. In the Properties menu, select 'Local Files' from the left-hand panel
5. On the Local Files page, select 'Verify integrity of game files'
6. Steam will then verify your files. This can take a few minutes, so be patient
Verifying integrity of files allowed me to launch the game, although with none of my mods working. Looks like my 1.0.7.0 GTA 4 executable was updated to 1.2.0.59 in this update.
Yep mods are a nightmare to maintain on this game, first you have to downgrade then you have to pray Rockstar doesn't randomly decide to release an update that ♥♥♥♥♥ everything up. I'm gonna try reinstalling the game, downgrading again and reinstalling my mods.
This isn't working for me, it keeps launching the social club app
Create a new folder in a known location on a different hard drive specifically for it.
Navigate to the game install folder.
Go back one level (like in Steam the folder you have to click Grand Theft Auto IV then GTA IV. I just copy the main Grand Theft Auto IV folder including the redistributables. Just in case) and just right click copy the entire Grand Theft Auto IV Directory
Navigate to the new hard drive or ssd folder you named like Grand Theft Auto IV Fresh Install or Downgraded version or whatever
Right click, paste. Wait
Backup created.
Problems with current install? Copy the main folders there you saved, navigate to the current main folder that is exactly the same.
Paste.
Try again.
It works
Maybe don't try to launch through Steam though and instead launch through the game folder or send PlayGTAIV.exe to your desktop as a shortcut, then rename it to Grand Theft Auto IV and add an icon to it.
Always launch from that instead of Steam to avoid Steam auto updating stuff and messing up your modded install
