Terrible Performance After Downgrading
So far, I tried downgrading the game to all patches, and in all of them except .4.0, the performance is just horrific despite me lowering the in-game settings and using dxvk.conf + DXVK.

For whatever reason, with DXVK and its config file still included, the latest version of the game works like a charm, and I can actually play the game fully maxed out! From what I can understand, performance on .8.0 and .7.0 should be the same if not better than the Complete Edition patch, then again I have slight stutters only when entering new map zones for the first time on the current game version.

I'm actually interested in downgrading the game purely because of the possibilities mods such as Potential Grim, Responsive Plus, Liberty Rush etc. open in terms of replayability, fixes and overall game improvements, but performance makes me have doubts.

Must note that I used ClonkAndre's Downgrader (v. 1.9 specifically) for all downgrades I've attempted so far, besides DXVK and the mods that the downgrader includes, I never installed anything else, and the issue persists.

Any suggestions on how to fix this ? Any response is appreciated, thanks in advance!

Had the same issue, until I stumbled upon a website in which they went into details about performance fixing and all.

It said to use DXVK v1.9.4 as it works the best with the game. so I tried it, and now my game works without any microstutters or issues.

Even if you decide to use new version of DXVK or alternative forks, use this config file https://www74.zippyshare.com/v/90lIfaQs/file.html and replace it in your game folder.

Should work out of the box, if it doesn't work, alternatively, try using dxWrapper instead of DXVK.

Here's a site about every possible solution to fix the stuttering in GTA IV

Also, funny thing, even if I didn't downgraded EFLC, they work far better in comparison to GTA IV (possibly better optimization with the DLCs(?))

I'm sorry for the bump, but after testing it out today, the game keeps lowering all the way down to 800x600 resolution after Alt-Tabbing once or twice, something that never happened before on DXVK 2.0 or 2.1.
Any ideas on how to fix this Raven ?

Make sure your GTAIV.exe, LaunchGTAIV.exe, PlayGTAIV.exe & commandline.txt have all proper commands set.

Hope this ain't too late to reply and sorry for the bump, I wasn't subscribed to discussion, my bad on that part. As for the issue you were experiencing, it's a bug in the game code, and it is advised not to alt-tab much, however, I'm not sure as I never experienced it. Hope you resolved the issue by now, if not, feel free to update to newer version of DXVK (my last playthrough, I used DXVK version 2.3.1 and alt-tab was working fine.

They fixed a lot of stuff with the newer version, and makes the game run at constant 144FPS for me.
