GTA IV The Complete edition Rockstar Game Launcher wont find save data
Hello guys I have a problem with my game. It is as follows. I bought GTA IV & stories from Liberty city. Install of the game and the launcher goes as it should. The problem arises when I want to launch the game. I get a message from the Rockstar launcher that my save files cannot be found. I never played the game on this computer. And I made a new profile on the social club/launcher, The message is that the save file was not found on windows live and if i want to scan my computer to find it, when I scan i get another message that no file has been found then the game start process stops and I can then run the game again. With the same message and scan all over again. This is the first time me posting something and if this is not the right chat can someone please point me to the right direction.

OH and I went trough a chat with the support guy from rockstar that said we need to do this further over email. In other words he didnt know what the problem is and probably I wont hear from him again.

Well, if it says "Save files could not be found" then you probably already have played the game a while ago and uninstalled it for whatever reason. I've had the same problem once after I reinstalled Gta4. Idk if this occured because my old save files were either all modded, outdated or the game simply won't let you load old save files idk. So anyway: You have two options. You can either open the file explorer go to "This PC/ Documents/ Rockstargames/ GTAIV/ Profiles" and delete the old save files so the next time you run Gta4 there shouldn't be any conflicts and it will start a new game as usual. If there are no save files located in the folder, download a save file from GTAinside.com and extract it to the folder where all the savegames are located. Hope I could help.

There should be a folder in the "profiles" folder. The one with all the numbers and letters in it. That's usually the folder where all your savegames are located. If this folder shows up for you, extract the new save file in there. If it doesn't show up, try to extract the file into the profile folder only. If that doesn't work either try to reinstall the game, because there obviously are some important folders missing that should definitely be on your pc.

I mean, sure you could also try to just create a save games folder in profiles, but I'm not sure

Came her looking for the same answer. Friend gifted the game to me this afternoon but this exact issue is all I've got so far. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I doubt this help but you could bypass the launcher and see if the game let you start.
Rename the redistributable folder within the GTA IV(Not the vcred within the exe folder, the launcher stuff) folder to anything, then hit play in steam, the game will try to open the launcher and won't find it and should just boot in single player offline mode.

Edit: you might need to add the launch option to your steam game -scOfflineOnly
Forgot I have that since forever and been bypassing launcher for years.
You still need to start the launcher once in a while, sadly like once every 2 weeks.
