Doesn't start new game

Alright, so. I've been trying for a few days to get this game to work, digging through the forums, googling stuff, watching youtube videos, but I got nothing.

What happens is the game will launch fine, brings up the RSGL (Rockstar Socialclub Game Launcher or whatever), can't log into that, just decide to play offline. Get to main menu and I click "New Game" I get to the line "DADDY'S BACK ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!!!" And then the game crashes saying something about how I need GFWL (Games for Windows Live) and so I say ok! I go download the GFWL Marketplace app off the links I've found on the forums here. I put in my info to login and the app crashes, unable to log in at all. Any thoughts? I would get a refund, but I don't think Steam will refund this since I've had this for like 3 years. Help!?

you just need to get your hands on the gfwlivesetup and download a patch. i used and old copy had stored on my old hard drive. still works and this is on a windows 10 pc. i cant get the graphic settings to change tho lol

The marketplace is just a part of the live platform, it needs the proper live setup to work. The marketplace is a little too recent to be compatible in older games. for some it works, for most it does not. As yokokurama4 said, just update using the correct setup.

To be able to use/change your graphics settings again go to your steam library and right click on GTA4 properties>launch options>now add (copy & paste if you like) these 2 following commands into the empty box and click ok-> -nomemrestrict -norestrictions <-your GTA4 graphic settings are now usable again enjoy! :)

Yep. I have the same problem. Cannot even start the game.

I have windows10 too it works great after a little bit of work but its really social club thats the true heartache here not GFWL...first you need to spam the play button to get in (you might get lucky and get it first click or you could be spamming for hours waiting) but once your in you need to add .disable after the paul.ddl file so it reads like this> paul.dll.disable (its in the GTA4 folder) but it MUST BE DONE WHILE PLAYING IN A MULTIPLAYER GAME for this to work (it saves your login data while in multiplayer) or else it wont work but once its done you will never ever have to deal with social club ever again it will always log you in automatically and not only that but it will ALWAYS connect so no more spamming the play button for hours on social club just to connect that one time :/ ...anyways let me know how it goes but i promise you this 'trick' works and enjoy!

p.s. when you do this 'trick' the first time while playing it it will disconnect you but that only means it worked so if you start it again right away you will see that the game is now the way it should have been years ago...working everytime you click play in steam :)
