Calling cops on you
When you shot from sniper into empty space
With suppressor
In the deep forest
In the middle of the night
And then you spend 5 IRL minutes escaping 1 star level
Well it makes sense. New phones have the emergency call.
But I agree. GTA 4 police system was ahead of its time, but also had alot of bugs.
For example, GTA 4 if you switch cars the police actually have to search for you. Unlike GTA 5 where they know where you are just acting like they don't.
I know I might get alot of hate for saying this. But I also just GTA 4 driving system. GTA 4, when you get in a car crash, it feels like a car crash. Unlike GTA 5 where it is just a little dent after going over 100mph into another car.
Also I love GTA 4 NOOSE. GTA 5 really just ruined it, it is there, yes. But GTA 5 NOOSE is basically better police.
Makes no sense. I still don't even know how to get stealth kills in GTA 5, I still have 0 stealth kills in my 700-800 hours.
- Nightsticks don't return so no melee combat with cops like 3D era;
- Police patrols don't exist in the open world when you don't have a wanted level (unless you are close to a police station);
- Despite the above, it's incredibly easy to get wanted levels and it takes too long to lose a single star (because afaik the time to lose the police is the same regardless of how many stars you have);
- The best way to lose the police is the most boring way, like standing still in a bush for a minute or two;
- Difficulty is extremely artificial: Supercars/High Top Speed is useless because cops have rubberbanding, game is programmed to auto steer your car when rammed or when your wheels are shot, cops can pit you but they decided to make it so they only do that at very low speeds and stupidly ram you otherwise. They also gave them the ability to pit heavy vehicles because they artificially increase the cop car's mass & or traction;
- Police will never arrest anyone, everyone will always be shot dead outside of scripted sequences;
- Downgraded police variety and vehicle use: IV has the FIB at high wanted levels, V does not, IV uses all of the police vehicles outside of missions (minus Police Stockade which is just a reskin of the NOOSE Stockade/Enforcer), V does not (Riot Van/Police Transporter only used in Roadblocks, Police Buffalo/Cruiser only being scripted map spawns, Annihilator is unused, etc...)
Etc... etc...

Very informative - I knew there was something I didn't quite like about GTA V's police system, and you articulated it excellently.
After reading (the first 3) this. I know I will never actually get myself to atleast like V's police. Thank you for helping.
Jokes aside, I see many helicopters spawn out of thin air infront of me and sometimes police (and random peds). So that is still there. Where as GTA 4 did not have that much,
With this being said I really feel like the cops were nerfed in TLAD. Plenty of plenty of times 1 2 stars would only spawn one cop the entire chase. IDK if i ever got more than 2 stars because they were so easy to.... not even manuver just mutually forgot about eachother ig
Don't forget, you always get called "♥♥♥♥♥" "♥♥♥♥♥" "choke on your blood" so on in GTA 5.
GTA 5 file that controls populations. the percent of cop pedestrians is set to 0. On GTA 4 it is also set to 0.
I get that everyone has phones in GTA 5 (and apparently animals too). But its way too instant. Sometimes an NPC can call the police as you are doing a crime, but most of the time I dont see it happen or the police is instantly called after punching one guy
