Can't play GTA IV with my PS4 controller

Usually, when i start up a steam game, it automatically links with my PS4 controller. This is not the case with GTA IV. I have tried the controller configuration but nothing works. Anyone who can help me?

did you install the software then go to options & place it on the controller? that's how mine worked, but I do know some controllers won't work

the original from 2008 had only xbox controller support.
i doubt they changed it.
maybe there's a xbox controller emulator somewhere.

im probably older than you are.
I've been playing GTA since the 90s.
GTA one was one of my favourite games on PS1 - mostly after returning home from the clubs ;-)

you could try installing DS4Windows, its a controller emulator for Dualshock 4 controllers. After that you might be able to get it working in GTA IV. Works for me that way

Install DS4 and install drivers.

Most games are not sepported for PS4 controller unless you have progam like DS4Windows trick the system that your ussing a XBox conroller instead of Dualshock 4. Dualshock 4 isn't sepported on steam onfortanatly.
