Overall, sure. RDR 2 had better weapon variety.
But the gunfights were lame. You can tell the devs desperately wanted you to abuse Dead Eye. The duels sucked too. I died most of the time trying to hit the aim, then wondering if I was supposed to hit the mark option like in Dead Eye, before figuring out what I was supposed to do. Such a clunky, stupid mechanic. Though, to its credit, I don't think any game ever figured out how to do duels.
Later on, when you have more health and can tank damage, it's fun to just go off on crowds of people with double Semi-Auto Pistols.
But early when you have no health and have to cower behind cover, the game is kind of crap, tbh. Dead Eye isn't even useful until maybe chapter 3. Even after then it feels like cheating, because every fight is over in one second using it. Just isn't satisfying.
Yeah, never thought about that.
In GTA IV they would limp or crawl away if you wounded them or punched them enough times. If you shot the guns out of cops' hands, they would run away in terror.
this game's combat is ♥♥♥♥♥♥' leagues better than GTA 5's, which is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sad.
A good point. The gun sound effects sounds in GTA V are weird, like they accidentally mixed the audio way too low.
RDR2 wasn't that fun.
