Multiplayer on PC was linked to your 'Games for Windows - Live" account.

After Microsoft shut down the marketplace in 2018 and eventually removed the Windows Live servers in 2020, multiplayer was no longer functional (on pc) and R* removed the "games for Windows live launcher" from the game.

Otherwhise the game wouldn't run at all any more.

Try GTAO then it's full of kids ;-)
I think only real GTA lovers care about GTA 4 nowadays.

Games For Windows Live itself was never shut down. People still use it to play Flatout: Ultimate Carnage (and hell some people still use it for GTA IV instead of Connected for some dumb reasons).

Of course it's been discontinued. You can no longer sign in there or purchase any new titles.

Sure, you can't download it from Microsoft anymore (have to find alternative links) but you can still sign in and play games that rely on it.

It is. The only thing that isn't online is the Marketplace. I already posted links of people still playing GFWL games Online.

Hey guys. I'm looking for those who also care about the «official» multiplayer in GTA IV.

It is the official «Games for Windows - Live», because «GTA Connected» with trainers and flights - it's not my thing.

Looking for guys who also want to share the «vanilla» version with all the classic game modes.
