"Disable Full Screen Optimization" option missing, and game won't start. What can I do?

Is there any other way to get the game to start past the Rockstar Logos?

1.Right click on GTA IV in your library
2.Select "Properties"
3.Select "Set launch options"
4.Type in: "-windowed" (without quotes).
5.Launch the game.
6.Press "home" button to use your mouse freely
7.Press the square to make the game more comfortable to play

Is the game still in full screen mode?

Nope. It's definitely in a window. But once it shows the GTA IV logo after the Rockstar Logos, it just stays at a black screen.

never seen anything like that before. what happened to me is that i got stuck at the disclaimer screen. what did it for me was starting the game via the xbox app. btw, have did you set any initialization options?
