* Can eat fast-food
* Metro system is far more superior to V's
* More side activities (Bowling, Air Hockey, Comedy shows, Car Thefts)
* More fun car driving
* City feels more alive
I could probably go on all day. But those are the main things for me.
1.NPCs react more realistically to the player character
In 5 i you get attacked while in 4 they treat you like any other NPC. Cops arrest the player character if you stand near them too long while in 4 they dont care unless you bump them or aim at them.
2. Bodies react more realistically.
Get tapped by a car in GTA 4 and you stumble a lot. Get tapped by a car in GTA 5 and your character moves but stays in its standing animation unless enough speed was acheived by the car running you over. Basically in GTA5 if a car hits you going less than 9mph nothing really happens.
To add to this, when you get drunk; In GTA 4 you act more like a drunk person would. In 5 you just get a lame screen shake affect.
Why GTA 5 is better than 4:
1. You can mod cars.
no more looking like a bland NPC. No more dull looking colors. You can turn a granny car into a street machine.
2. You can mod weapons, and used their sights.
You can add attatchments and while limited, it still provides a better gun experience than 4. The sound of each gun has been recorded with better quality than in GTA 4 making the gun fights more immersive.
3. You can watch TVs and smoke a joint/cigar.
Instead of the shot being you watching your character watch TV, you actually get to watch TV. Bonus is you can smoke a cigar or bowl. Extra immersion when you do it with said characters.
if only this game gets remastered with RDR2 graphics, i wont touch gta 5 by any chance.
Also in IV you can actually parkour. In V going over gaps that are more than like 6 inches ingame literally, ragdolls you. You can try this on some curbs and waist high gaps in V and you just ragdoll, when it's an easily doable jump. IV you can make the jump, and if you can't but are close, you can grab the ledge! Makes for some nice flanking and hidden spots to get to. Makes chases fun too. Or it did, when the game had online...
To add to that: Multiplayer is better in IV. No grinding for any gameplay changing unlocks (only thing you can unlock is clothes, but you can easily cheat them via quick file edit because Ranked was poorly designed), game modes are cool and very customizable (disable cops, friendly fire, traffic, pick a weather, blips, etc...).
Other things such as: More missions, more freedom in missions, better side activities (infinitely replayable & randomized Vigilante for example), better gunplay, better police/wanted system, vehicles don't explode if you land them the wrong way, you can actually survive a helicopter crash, you can use helicopter blades to just yeet cars off the road, flying through the windshield doesn't instakill you, better melee combat, you can actually have a wanted level during races, you can shoot people down without actually killing them, etc... etc... The list goes on. V sucks in comparison to San Andreas and IV.
-GTA V had only one, semi-minor likeable character in the WHOLE game. It also had the least likeable protagonists in the whole series... three of them.
-GTA IV is chock full of likeable characters, most of all the protagonist.
-I'm one of the people who greatly prefers the IV driving physics to V's. I didn't mind the arcadey driving physics in SA, but in V I do. It's a step-back from both games and it makes driving, AKA the single biggest thing you do in the game, a chore for any great amount of time. GTA IV does not have this issue because you have to actually have some level of concentration in order to get around quickly. Although, motorbikes in V are way better than IV.
-Vehicle damage looks way better.
-Way better mission design. Yeah, sure V is a lot more diverse, but when diversity amounts to stupid gimmick mechanics you use once in the whole game instead of the main gameplay every second mission it makes me hate it for being so varied.
-The satire is ham-fisted in all GTA games because it's so ingrained into the series' DNA, but at least in IV, unlike as in V, the game can actually take itself seriously long enough and well enough for me to care about anything.
-Smaller world in IV is a good thing. Driving from point to point, mission to mission in V is tedious when you have to drive for kilometres across a huge world. It takes much less time to get to your destination in IV so it isn't a constant pain in the ass.
-The radio stations are way funnier. Like, legitimately laugh out loud funny.
-The music is much better all around. Both original soundtrack and licensed music. The OST of V isn't at all what I'd call bad, it's just not to my taste. There are only a few songs on the entire radio station that aren't garbage too.
-Ragdoll is way better in IV, and you can actually get out of your car even at slow speeds without flipping a coin to see whether you die or not.
-THE COPS AREN'T ♥♥♥♥♥. And thank ♥♥♥♥ for that. In GTA V they're wayyyy too sensitive making the whole game a chore. The reason I usually quit my playing sessions of V is because the cops piss me off and I can't be bothered dealing with them. Never happens in IV, one because it takes a lot more to set them off in the first place and two because you can get rid of them at 1 start much faster. Rockstar ♥♥♥♥♥♥ us over with the cops in V and it actively went against the game design formula so it made zero sense for them to be so sensitive.
IV's motorbikes are the best in the series (just make sure you have a 60 FPS cap otherwise they'll become super slidey. That's probably why everyone hates them, because they don't know about the FPS bugs).
