Anyone tried redeem cdkey from retail version ?

I own GTA 4 and Episode of Liberty CIty CD retail version. And i cant still redeem key on Rockstar launcher or Steam.

Me too. I tried enter my unused key from manual instruction and got message "Rockstar Activation Code is not valid". Got damn it.

Where do they list that you can use your key? Because that was likely made obsolete when they removed GFWL.

Just have a closer look at the store page

The store page is almost a decade out of date because it still tells you that you require GFWL, which closed in 2013. So ignore whatever is on there.

Games not previously activated using Games for Windows Live will be able to use the Key on the back of the game manual to activate and update to Grand Theft Auto IV: Complete Edition.

Both my original DVD installs of GTA IV & GTA EFLC still work fine. I just played both of them. Can I deactivate both of them and get GTA IV: Complete Edition for free or do I have to buy them again?

I don't think the CD Key on the back of the Manual is a proper Rockstar Activation Code.

I just tested with an unopened copy sealed in the plastic. It didn't work for me, either.

This part is a unresponsible part for rockstar, They only released digital purchase right now, physical owners will have to wait a bit before they can redeem the game. I myself is also a physical copy owner and I was very excited that they released the game today, but very disappointed that they haven't allowed us to redeem it yet

Seems like r* can neither lauch, nor re-launch any of their games on pc...

If you have the disk, try installing the game with no internet connection. You may be able to generate a second code which may work in the R* launcher.

If you've activated the game via GFWL then make sure you have that account linked to your R*social club account, and also your Xbox for windows account (should be the same login details as your GFWL account). Obviously you will have to have the R* social club account linked to your steam account as well because this is how the game will be supplied.

I think it will be supplied via r* launcher if it will be supplied at all

launcher detected both GTA4 and EFLC and displayed a task bar popup but did not add CE. scanning also worked but only for GTA4. perhaps they will add patch support and it'll run like LA Noire with the "Play from Disc" option although not needed. A discless patch would be f'n awesome
