Please help, lag hell
My specs:

Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i3 6100 @ 3.70GHz
RAM: 6.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 797MHz
GPU: Intel HD Graphics 530

Don't be fooled, game engine wise, GTA IV is completely different from GTA V.
Just putting that to rest before the "GTA V runs 8k 144hz but this old game [insert anything unrelated]" argument comes.

What... It's a simple answer, upgrade to a better GPU to play GTA IV, A Intel HD Grahpics 530 Can't handle it.

So I can't download any patches or adjust any configuration files?

You should buy GT1030 or RX560 2GB.

You could prop adjust commandline.txt or mess with the lanuch options but it will end up looking like Canis Canem Edit on IOS

This game is NOT properly optimized for the PC, older GPU's will have more trouble running GTA IV specifically than other games.

Your Ram and Graphics need updating. The computer you are running is obviously barebones. This computer is speced for 2006 to 2008.

Running windows 10 required 3gb of ram. leaving you with 1gb for whatever else.

Your GPU isn't good enough. You need to either upgrade it or lower the settings for GTA IV. I played the game on Intel HD Graphics 620 on medium and low settings and I was fine. FPS is around 15-20. I do not know if the lowering the settings is good enough.

I would recommend turning your resolution down to 800x600. i know its kinda poopie like that but it helped me.

I could probably get something better for that money, also it's going to be a desktop.

I use 1070 and frame still drops to 45-50 sometimes, freezes often, etc. Setting are maxes tbh, but hell, its 1070 vs 10y/o game

Update your gpu and it should work fine, but until you do try and downgrade the version to 1.0.7.0
