Can we still play gta 4 on lan? Online is dead yeah, but we still love this game much.. Thank you for your time.

Yes you can play LAN, but even virtual LAN is Not better than LIVE multiplayer, because NO it's full of people. I played it exceptionaly this afternoon to show my brother in law how I play GTAIV and it was full of Player Match sessions 15 sessions ! ( 3 to 10 people in ) and 2 Ranked Match... So... You should play LIVE multiplayer if you can...
But if you have a lot of friend to play a LAN on it of course on this way the experience Will be the greatest ! I would like to play a full 32 players LAN on GTAIV ! I'm serious, So if you a day we can to it let's start know each others ;) see ya !

you can use a xbox live account to sign into GFWL and play online multiplayer

Sure. Just create a free account on xbox.com.
And use that account information for your login to GFWL.

(Xbox is now Microsoft's gaming platform on Windows, replacing GFWL with some backward compatibility to it.)
