Which is Better- GTA 4 or 5, and Why?

Hello, if you're a GTA fan (and have played 4+5) I want to hear your opinion. Which do you think is better? GTA 4 or 5, and why? All Youtube videos about this subject matter are just stupid side by side comparisison compilations (that are all biased and don't really compare).
Comment which you like better (GTA 4 is my personal favorite because it has a better story, atmosphere and mechanics).

I have a slight personal preference for GTAIV. But, they both have their strong and weak points and I appreciate both for what they are.

Most comparison videos do make valid points.
Multiplayer is a whole lot more engaging in GTA V than it ever was in IV
With it's custom races that allow exp grinding, minigames to be played.
Intricate missions to be done co-operative.

Personally I think cars handle better in V more because I prefer quick response times instead of heavy unweildy vehicles in IV

My personal preference would go to V in this case. More because of it's playerbase and the colorful map to explore.

However. I think it's not even debatable which story was better. It's a matter of personal preference which you cannot make a standard vote out of.
You could but only the hardcore fans care about their pixels more than others.
So it would be a bit redundant.

Just saying, If i were to say I liked GTA V's story better, its not up for debate cause you can't debate personal preferences. :)

They're both great games... you simply cant compare them because they're different styles. Nothing in either game is "better" or "worse" than another, they're just done differently to find which people like most. They changed the physics to see which people preferred, they changed the handling, the guns, and made it so things can be purchased instead of stolen. Simple. Both games are brilliant and if I could merge the two together, I would. The GTA IV play style in the GTA V world, where friendly modders who spawn cars and turn their godmode off all come to congregate :)

I guess my opinion is slightly swayed because V runs like crap on my computer. Don't get me wrong though, both games are great, but I like IV's story much better (imo). Yes the cars don't handle well, but I think it adds chalange and unigue moments like when you slip of a high road and skid into a pedestrian and kill him. GTA 5 has clearly superior graphics, and it's physics are not as bad as some people make it out to be. I also like the gameplay in IV better because it had better combat, control, and balance. But I loved how V had a fictional internet to fool around with, something IV seems to lack.
Both are masterpeices though!

Still, IV is my favorite GTA game. Probably it's because of better characters, better story, cooler physics engine.

Well, it does has Internet. Not as elaborate as in V, but you can use it.
(Not on your phone, but in the Tw@t's throughout the city or in an apartment you own that has a laptop in it.)

The ability to use the Internet in IV unlocks after one of Roman's mission in the beginning. The news on the Internet follows your progress in the game, reporting on the bad things you've done. :-)

And some of the E-mails are fun to read. It even has spam.

Well, as many of these people said, they are masterpieces. At the time when GTA IV came out it was mind blowing. But both have pros and cons: The police will kill you in GTA V while in GTA IV they will arrest you. The multiplayer in GTA IV is broken but it works fine in GTA V. Both of the maps are lovely, but in my opinion, i think that GTA IV is a liitle bit better, probably because i enjoy the dark, griddy and Liberty City style and not sunny and fresh Los Santos. But anyways, both are really enjoyable games. I don't know why people still argue about what is the better game, BOTH OF THEM ARE, PLAY THEM! :)

Yeah both have their yeahs and neighs, but I'm glad to have both of them!

They fixed the performance in patch 8.

gta iv is more gritty, heavy, and a dark story. gtav is more of a lighter, funnier, bangem up story. gtaiv physics are better but gtav online is better. they are both masterpieces.
