Uhh... have you seen the delay of Iron Wing on attacking spawning enemies from multiple waves?
Or tried mode switching in a parkour vault and it says "Iron Wing can't change modes right now"?
I think it's better than it could've been, but it's definitely not elegant.
That bothers me significantly more than the absurd idea of Nona somehow being overpowered. Personally think I'd only rate her above maybe the turtle. Assuming Re8 at least, likewise assume she feels incredibly strong early on because she has the highest skill floor.
its not rare for me to end up having more damage than all 3 other players combined on nona. you either build for missilestorm or shockwave and just stack skilldamage/cdr, global lucky shot (there are only very few scrolls giving skill lucky shot), defenses and dashes.
not like she ever falls off either. she just keeps on scaling untill the very end.
being able to just give weapon damage scrolls away for your team is also very powerfull.
imo, its only pair of us thats an issue. just reduce it from 1% for 1hp to 2% for 5hp and it'd be fine imo. Maybe buff her gunner tree a bit, that one feels awefully weak.
you clearly never played her past the first run because having a blesssing that makes your robot immortal and gives you 1000% scaling towards over 2200%+ more damage in A4 is literally the opposite of what you're saying. pair of us makes it so the robot can never go down unless you do.
Also Li and the Owl are just better :P
Early on. I realized I could put Nona's robot on turret mode and walk around collecting gold. After messing around with the new characters, I decided to push for reaching/beating nightmare and got it done in 12 hours of playtime. I didn't have to buy a single gun upgrade.
My talents are still at the halfway mark so I'll continue farming with Nona to max out. Do I have a problem with this? Not at all! Nona is crazy fun! Eventually I'll go back to my favorite, Tao, when farming is completed. I can't get the hang of the owl. I presume there's more to it when I max everything out.
A Mecha drop strike mode build dishes out decent damage. I can complete R8 LW4 Jokul solo using nothing but Mecha drop strike mode (zero weapon shots fired - none. And no secondary). Granted 'pair of us' is needed. But with this build my highest single damage is just shy of 30,000,000 and overall damage about 900,000,000. Pretty decent for solo.
Similar runs using only fire mode (again, no weapons or secondary) I haven't been able to clear the Jokul elite gathering. But getting to Jokul elite gathering with fire mode was actually easier than when I only use strike mode. But it seems fire mode can't quite cut it with the Jokul elites, whereas strike mode mecha drop is needed for that big burst damage.
Obviously careful selection of scrolls, ascensions, blessings is key. I wouldn't consider her OP, but I don't think she's as trash as some people think.
This might be the most even handed take on Nona I've seen, and I thank you for that. I think, like every other character in this game, she has a very specific build and circumstance in which she's busted, but otherwise she's mediocre.
This run was Reincarnation 8 with Spiritual Link, Mysterious Jokul and Lone Wolf (x4 player enemy health multiplier). Extra blessing is Ultimate Gambler. All the missile ascensions except the self destruct maxed, plus any skill damage increasing scrolls and spiritual links I could grab. Last boss died under 30 seconds and that was only because he had to do his scripted animations.

Owl on the other hand is some crazy dingbat sauce.
