Momo ruined the game for me after +600 hours
So any experienced gunfire player knows at R9 most skill builds are generally more reliable than gun builds, as those take much more time and effort to get going. This has always been a gripe I’ve had with the game as it takes away from the roguelike experience and defeats the purpose of the name “gunfire.”

That being said, most of the time most builds especially weapons will even out or pop off later in the game. However, last night I went to do a couple gunfire runs as I do with my friend, and he decided to just do a Momo ult build, no big deal right? Very wrong.

By the middle of the desert we quit and called it a night because I couldn’t even click on a single enemy for almost a dozen floors. Momo’s absurdly overtuned ult build required only 1 spirit blessing to simply solo the entire game, destroying not only the cooperative aspect of the game but even the ability to press a single button. From floor 1 he ran around borderline invincible in squirrel form just mashing his keyboard and by the time we quit he had 10 million damage i only broke a million because my spirit demon could run ahead and get some damage off.

I literally uninstalled the game immediately. Gunfire, it was nice knowing you, hopefully when you decide to nerf Momo into dust and maybe if I’m lucky just take the Starfly out of the game as well. Ruined a game that i played almost 2 hours of a night for a couple of years now.

I anticipate people just being nasty about this post but it truly comes from the bottom of my heart seeing a game i enjoyed so much be ruined by one character’s existence. You could argue, hey pal just don’t pick Momo. Okay, let me just not play the most optimal way to play the game bar NONE. Its ridiculous, the game became cookie clicker in seconds upon loading it up. No looping, no farming, no insane cheeze. Just selecting one character and one spirit blessing.

I would appreciate anyones opinions keep in mind i really dont want to hate this game but seeing my friend mash his keyboard running around invulnerable for 2 straight segments of the game to the point where I couldn’t even throw out an ability to hit an enemy in time instantly ruined any fun ive ever had with it.

I just got the game, should I avoid the DLCs? OP strats tend to ruin games for me as well, it's fun for a second then you feel dead inside and never want to play again.
I play multiplayer most of the time. This season I always stick with the blessing adding more power to my demon spirit to build around it. Then I chose Momo with the first blessing for demon spirit build. The second blessing was Momo's secondary and I didn't even choose any ascension for ink dmg and secondary damage but my total more than doubled my demon spirit's. I didn't even use splash dmg in main skill too. I just waltzed around and let the demon spirit did its things and the second blessing but the result surprised me how Momo can effectively deal damage.

PS, this is the first time I got a reward. Who ever you are TYSM!

Yes, I recommend you avoid DLCs until you at least reach a point where any good build lets you become OP regardless.

Many builds only let you become OP on the highest difficulties (ironically). DLC heroes you can do that almost immediately.

Honestly, I would wait. I really love this game and Im glad I finished the pass before we discovered how broken his ult build was. This game has always had this as a problem, getting worse over time, but you can even look at the other thread about Momo from when the DLC came out and 90% of people in that thread have the same take.

You can even check on youtube there's multiple 15 minute full game runs with Momo using the problematic blessing I mentioned in the post. It's honestly truly disheartening for someone who played this game almost every day. Ruined the entire "build" part of the game when you don't even need to combo items or ascensions to 1 shot enemies.
That said I have seen many times Momo mops all the enemies and the rest of the team just follows including me. Next time if I ever see that player with Momo again I just stay away. Peace.
And if you still keep playing then play in Boundless Realm is okay. Most of the time, thoses Momos leave after beating the stage 4 boss when they have had their fun.

When you think about it, only Momo's invulnerability is an issue
Before this DLC, Foxy Li was the top rated Hero on tier lists
Her ability damage is strong, she is held in check somewhat by her low health and shield stats

Momo has the same shield and health so with high ability damage, he should be her equal or just under her since his Primary needs close range to do damage
Yet he cannot be killed in Primary form

I really do not expect them to try and balance much, not sure if they care about it after they did those early balance changes

No it is not. He also dish a lot of damage, and the new DLC gun doesn't require aiming.

It is the combination that is the problem:
invulnerability + High mobility + No need to aim + High damage

If you remove any two of above, it would be much better.

Except Li has 3 of those just missing invulnerable, does a lot of damage through skills alone not much weapon use needed and she could use that weapon too

Might have to try Li with it just to see what happens

Tried momo once ( It's been a year since I played gunfire reborn, more or less ) and it was indeed gamebreaking.

Since I play with friends, we just avoid picking that character.
But I can see it being an issue when one wants to quick join / play with randoms.

If I were to play with randoms, I'd probably join their discord and try to find someone to play with ( asking not to pick momo ) while waiting for devs to drop the nerf hammer.

Ink (hero skill) Momo is only strong early game, falls off super hard late game.

It's true that you both could just avoid the character but I understand the impact a character like that has on your mentality as a player. You kind of feel like you're punishing yourself in a sense because you know there's an easier way to win and it gnaws at your mind. While that may not be true for everyone, it's definitely true for many.

I haven't tried the character yet, I might do that a bit later. Though, easy mode characters are often most desirable in "farming" situations where quickly and easily clearing a mode is very beneficial and if there's no incentive to do that, then you should feel more free to choose what you enjoy over the fastest or easiest option.

Momo falls off hard in act 3-4 if you go for the pure ink build solo or in a party in R9.
The people claiming he is "super duper mega op" most likely dont get too see him snoozing his way trough act 4
