Only game i know of that is similar. Risk or rain 2 is also a little bit like this but not as much as roboquest,
Risk of Rain 2 goes for infinite scaling on EVERYTHING; had many a late-game where I could jump across the entire level in seconds where it would take minutes to do at the start. Its got more unique enemies and cool environments.
They are the same genre but feel different and both fun to play. Gunfire has interesting builds to craft, and its more scientific with min-maxing and theres no punishment for going slow. RoR2 is fast-paced, more interesting levels and designs, hilarious and fun scaling, and more time-intensive.
I will say, I think Gunfire is more fun in a group because everyone gets all the drops. RoR2 suffers because in teamplay, each drop is unique and so it usually ends up where most people in the group are too weak too fast, and 1 person kinda takes over.
Borderlands 2 has far more content, and Pre-sequel has better scaling and mechanics (For price)
But yeah. This game is extremely inspired by borderlands. The Dog character is nearly a 1-1 comparison to a character in Borderlands 2, the Sunder pistol is almost an exact copy of a legendary gun in B2.
If you want something like this, sans-roguelike. Borderlands.
Did I say just "dual wielding"?
This game takes -heavy- queues from Borderlands in every facet of design, but since you had to bring up Ao Bai, comparison time.
Focus on explosives? Check. (While Salvador doesn't have direct skills to improve explosive, reload and firerate are drastically improved, suiting rocket launchers very well)
Talent for throwing two grenades? Check.
Tank-centric character? Check
Talent for Reduced damage/Healing during dual wield? Check.
That's not considering the various minor buffs that can't really be compared due to just generic RPG mechanics, yet both Ao Bai and Salvador share, or that a lot of Salvador's abilities are represented via occult scrolls
Look at the elements. The base three(four with explosive) function exactly as they do in borderlands with extras tacked on.
Fire-Health/Shock-Shield/Corrosive-armor.
And for the most part Miasma is very close to how Radiation works in Borderlands 3.
The weapon inscriptions is more closely related to Diablo, but the effects have far more in common with random effects that you can get throughout the borderlands series.
The occult scrolls use a color system mirroring borderland's loot tiering. White/Green/Blue/Purple/Orange
White(common items like ammo and health)/Teal(which is between green and blue on a spectrum)/Purple/Orange. Red cursed scrolls are the odd one out, because well, they're new in concept
Downing as a concept in multiplayer, the subsequent penalties for being revived.
I could go on... But I don't feel like making a wall, more than I already have.

If you have something against Borderlands, that's your problem, but you can't ignore how much influence that series has had on this game's development. They took inspiration from something and put spin on it to make it their own. It feels familiar enough to be fluent, but different enough to stand out. (Also Rouge-like VS Progressive story driven, but that's a thematic change).
OP asked for games like Gunfire. Every person I've played with that has played both, says that this reminds them of Borderlands.
Great condescending response without actually trying to make a counter point.
Also, deleting your message doesn't delete it from quotes.
Yes, counter point needed because he actually brought arguments to back up his claims, you're blind by choice.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but the health and damage system is literally taken from borderlands meanwhile the enemies with blue names, inscriptions and loot are from Diablo (and Borderlands took a lot from Diablo to begin with).
Another story would be if we talk about Borderlands being good or not, but we are not talking about that. Hell, one friend of mine describes Gunfire as "Borderlands, but good" since he hates BL with a passion but enjoys this game while knowing full well where they took ideas from.
They just made a roguelite around it, cry about it.
At least you're following suit, don't make a pool with your tears now.
100% This. Though I feel that Immortal Redneck is much more difficult than Gunfire Reborn. I'm sure I am wrong though as I haven't played Immortal Redneck in a very long time.
Too bad there's no "killing a phaselocked enemy spawns health pickups" like Maya has, but I digress -- they're very similar characters.
