• It would require people to play multiplayer.
• It would require people to grind.
• It would require people to be skilled/knowledgeable enough to achieve certain specific goals, such as beating both final bosses in Endless Journey or having steady 80% DMG Resistance.
No, it wouldn't matter that it would be optional.
No, it wouldn't matter if it was supposed to be exclusive high-tier stuff for the best players to show off.
No, it wouldn't matter if you could buy it for soul essence once the season is over, making the previous achievement for completing all 50 quests worthless.
People would complain. Devs would listen to them and make it not require all quests anymore. That's why there's no reward, to prevent the complaints and apology changes before they even start.
I found the R9 requirement to be too punishing since less than 30% of the players have beaten Nightmare once. However, the 25 different spiritual blessings was super easy since you only had to play different characters. Getting rid of the specific difficulty requirement would have made this far more doable for the average player.
The 100B dmg was probably one of the easiest ones that involved zero grinding. Got it in my first run with Li while doing a single loop. Overklill damage being calculated really makes this a non-issue.
I wasn't suggesting anything about forcing people to play outside their normal loop, if someone doesn't like playing harder difficulties that's fine, there are a lot of other rewards they can still get! That shouldn't take away from the fact that other players are able to achieve more.
My comment was simply about the lack of reward for players that are able to fully complete the season; it feels underwhelming. Isn't the point of skins and avatars and frames, aside from their individual cosmetic appeal, so that when you play with others you have a way to show what you've done in the game? Keep all the current rewards where they are, I just want one more! hehe :P
I don't agree, though, that the R9 ascension should be made more doable with a lower difficulty, I like that it's a challenge and this point actually reinforces why I think there should be a reward for finishing all 50. If you are able to complete it and all the others, let those players celebrate that with a cool *something*. It shouldn't have to be an "everyone gets a ribbon" situation. (sidebar - interesting stat that <30% of players have completed nightmare, I hadn't realized that before)
I have played a LOT of this game and I have never seen anyone do 100B damage in a single run, so idk what magic you were doing lol, but I doubt that will be most players' experience. But anyway, my point about that specific ascension wasn't that it's necessarily hard to get, but just that I completed 40 other ascensions when I was still only about halfway through the damage grind and really had no reason to grind it out other than I wanted to check the box. Per my orig post, it will essentially become a throwaway for a lot of players imo.
As cynical as it may be, I'm inclined to agree with 931numbers that it's probably more about avoiding complaints, since to Eudicots' point, sounds like a majority of the players are playing at a more casual level. Unfortunate, though, that it ends up leading to a slightly less optimal experience for more experienced players that want a way to demonstrate that.
Having to do all 50 would feel like a chore, no matter how shiny the reward is.
Another thing to consider, is that battlepasses are time limited. And not all players are fully progressed. Some wont have their talent trees maxed out, and/or some wont have reincarnation unlocked at all. This is already kind of a problem with how many challenges are tied to bizarre dreams.
You generally want a battlepass to work without considering a player's progression.
