There is no story in this game except for 4 lines of text. There are 3 game modes. The first is your standard dungeon crawler with 4 acts. This mode has 4 difficulties with one of the mode Reincarnation having 8 different version that increase in difficulty. These difficulties also has 6 modifiers that can be toggled on or off to increase customization of runs. The second game mode is daily challenges. These put the player into a special version of 1 of the 4 acts found in the first game mode with varying effects. There are 10 different dailies on a rotation. The last game mode is a timed arena shooter that has different mechanics from the other two modes. There are currently only two maps, but 2 more are planned.

I have over 900 hours in the game and I enjoy it. However, most of my playtime is with people that I know. Sure you can play this game solo and with randoms, but with the current playerbase it might be hard to find players in your region (no lobby browser or mid game joining).

Thanks for your answer. I'm going to play solo probably. Did you got bored at some point because of lack of the content or nah ? What are your thoughts.

Personally I've not gotten bored with it and I've got 514 hours put in. Like all rogue-lites you will be running the same stuff over and over again, so it's really a matter of how fast you get bored with the genre in general. I do a solo run every now and then, but most of my playtime is with a buddy. I'm sure there's plenty of people that would enjoy running this game over and over by themselves, but like most co-op shooters (i.e. Borderlands, Left4Dead, etc) the game is a lot more fun if you've got friends to play with imo.

I wouldn't have even gotten the game if I didn't have my buddy already playing it and asking me to pick it up. I'm glad I did because we've had a lot of fun together. However if he wasn't there to get me into the game in the first place I likely wouldn't have bought the game. And even if I did, in all honesty I probably would have gotten bored with it ages ago if all I did was solo runs. There's certainly fun to be had even when you're solo, if you ask me the most fun part of this game is finding completely busted god-mode builds (which you frequently do) to blaze through the levels like a whirlwind of destruction. But even that likely wouldn't have been enough to keep me playing if I didn't have a buddy to run duos (occasionally trios) with.

It's got plenty of replayability. If you want an exciting challenge, I wouldn't say this game offers that. It's like, you don't play FTL for tactical difficulty. It's just a chill game with tons of replayability. That's what this is, but in FPS form.

Like, if you like Binding of Isaac/FTL where you're making metagamey decisions that's about mastering in-game knowledge but even if you're not a master you can still do well.

Vampire Survivors has that same kind of feel. You don't need to be "good" at Vampire Survivors. There's a floor to game knowledge that doesn't take much to learn, then it's just a matter of how badly you beat the game after you get past it. And it's the journey of optimizing, not the difficulty itself.

I would say something like Slay the Spire is the "challenging" counterexample because even the best players in the game can't get 100% win rate. Yet after tens of thousands of hours, they get closer and closer to making optimal decisions edging them closer to perfection.

This game isn't like that. It's not like you can never reach 100% win rate. You definitely can, and it's not even particularly difficult. It's just a satisfying feeling to make executive decisions on how to nerd out maxing out your build and experimenting with interactions.

I like the gameplay loop so I haven't gotten bored of the game yet. I will say that the amount of inscriptions (random weapon modifiers), scrolls (passive effects), and ascensions (hero specific effects) does provide a good variety. However, if you are someone who wants there to be a lot of different enemies and maps then this game is most likely not for you.

Definitely worth a buy. I played the game for free on GamePass for around 200 hours and now just starting on Steam as it's WAY more content-rich and optimized.

I say yes. I only play it on Xbox Gamepass, so the steam version should be way better. Plus I would think anytime a sale happens the player base will grow a bit.

I would give it a solid 7.5 out of 10 and that is on Xbox, no really decent updates few bug fixes, no DLC, lot of fun.

The game itself? Yeah. DLC? Only if you like the base game.

I have almost 90 hours in the game and purchased it while it was deep in early access. If not for the content alone, the devs have been amazing at 1) listening to the community 2) free updates 3) timely and fairly priced DLC's and 4) constant balancing and patches.

You will get your money's worth.

I am hopping into this game regularly and I always enjoyed it.

The scaling is kinda extreme and you can easily become overpowered but it feels like a positive experience overall.

I can suggest this title, including the DLC's. The additional characters are quite good and enjoyable.

For me, it's ok. It's not som'in I'm itching to play or return to often. The game loop got boring after a bit since there's only the same 4 stages. After a bit you notice the location pieces and how enemies spawn in each. The characters are fine and each shine in their own way, though you'll prob latch onto a single character and run it. There's a good selection of weapons, but only a very small handful are actually good or usable in a decent way. The graphics are som'in that looks like a game that got crammed onto a Quest 2, but don't take that as a bad thing. The low detailing is in it's favor as it does look pretty good.

All in all: I tend to pull this up when bored and wanna shoot things (or run around and microwave em with Rainbow) with my GF. Else I tend to play som'in different.
Thanks everyone for the replies :rbrbr2:
