Dragon qian on Stage 1 Reincarnation 7 solo
Anyone else feel that this vault is out of place this early?
I can barely even hurt it before the ranged enemies lock unto me and kill me
Is there some kind of trick or strategy that I'm not aware of because in my experience it's a 100% skip and waste of a vault to me

Depends on which character you are playing. The bone dragon with any character does limit this enemies movement making it easier to deal with and it will also group up all the enemies in the room. Otherwise focusing on a Elite/Boss dmg builds will melt this enemy like Tao with the blessing ice blades.

And what if you don't happen to have a Bone Dragon? For sure you won't have an elite / boss damage build because the original poster O/P specified stage 1.

This happens frequently in the higher resurrection levels. You get the little treasure dragon Qian and the room is absolutely filled with the worst ranged attack enemies. You cannot focus fire on Qian, you will die. The challenge is frequently impossible, and you cannot cheese the challenge as it is on a timer.

O/P is correct and you just aren't paying attention to his words. Or you are so godlike that there is nothing difficult in the game LOL. I honestly don't know which, you tell me.

Edit: I have done this challenge with a Bone Dragon. You are correct that it hampers the ranged enemies. However, it has pathetic DPS and will not win the challenge for you. Even if you had Demonlore in weapon slot 1 and Bone Dragon in slot 2 (which I have had) it is still not possible to both impede the enemies and burn the golden dragon down. Bear in mind the little dragon is doing his best to get away, and there is no crit on his back for the Demonlore to leverage. Face it, Qian does not belong in the stage 1 dungeons.

Nope, it's the same as any other Act. Good damage, miasma, or skip. That's basically the only tip one can give since it's a time limit vault. I've had times in a group run where we've failed this vault in Act 1, 2, and 3.

I only really have trouble with it in act 1. But then, the group I run with is uber, very nearly stealthXG level. I'm guessing I'm the worst player in a team whereas you are the best player on a team. Anyway the O/P's point stands.

Bone dragon is an example especially for multiplayer where it serves as the best weapon in Act 1 because it will drastically reduce the risk of dying in all of the vaults. You can also try using manipulation to distract the other enemies (Lei Luo makes this a lot easier to implement) giving the rest of your team breathing room. There are other combinations, but you just have to decide what to use by a run to run basic. Going with a support focused playstyle for this Act won't have any affect on the rest of your run since you will not have commit the rest of your run to this.

In single player this event does limit the builds you can use since there are very few that are heavily focused on Elites/Bosses. Sure every build can become strong in game, but not every build has a strong start making Act 1 in general more difficult. Ever character has a way to counter this enemy, but you might not want to or you might not enjoy playing those builds.

In my experience It is very rare in random groups for dmg or enemy spawns to be an issue. I find that players entering this vault by themselves to be a bigger issue. Starting this vault without your team close by almost always results in a lose.

If the mobs in the room are an issue then it might also just be a skill issue. This vault is a lot easier to maneuver around attacks compared to its Act 2 and 3 variations.

Okay, if I understand you correctly, certain builds work for Qian and others not so much. Groups good, solo less so. Git gud. (I do appreciate the effort to make it palatable, "might also just be a skill issue" ROFL).

Assuming I got that right, I'll try to respond with at least a fraction of your courtesy.

I don't agree that Act 1 is particularly difficult. My only challenge is the Polar Monarch and occasional bad luck. Polar Monarch is a problem in his last phase, where there is no place to dodge to and the entire floor is painted red with incipient attacks. I sometimes die in that mess, even playing the bird. So, yeah, I suppose I'm a noob. And because he had the temerity to speak his mind, maybe the O/P is a noob, too. Doubtful, but possible.

May I introduce you to stealthXG? If you think this guy (stealthXG) is a noob, I invite you to watch his videos. I don't want to inflate the poor guy's ego, but noob he is not. So you can take your git gud and...oh, wait. I forgot I was trying to be polite.

Edit: On re-reading this, it comes off spicier and less funny than it was in my head. I want to be clear that I took no offense and was joking about the git gud stuff. Also, I have no authority to speak on stealthXG's behalf. He is both a better player and nicer than I am. He does not think he's all that, that's just me (that thinks he's all that). So no offense taken nor intended.

Also this, whenever I see the vault with this symbol I wait for my teammates.

This is true, naturally. I'd go a step further and do all vaults and next areas on a ready all basis. I don't play R7 but I presume it's still pretty exciting.

if you want an out of place vault, the act one defensive vault is by far imo the most problematic one. extremely subject to rng and if you didn't have really good ascensions quickly into the run/and or a good gun to carry you with, even if you're a good player chances are you'll quickly lose this vault. for reference im talking about reincarnation level 8

Yeah that one is also difficult, i have the most luck with the bird and Lei Luo on that one

I only play the fat fluffy tiger and since lady luck is a mean witch on R8 and almost never lets you have good ascensions or scrolls at the beginning, I just pray that I get a useful weapon.

Venom pistol rightclick (even without exclusive inscriptions) helps with that little critter or the double barrel shotgun. Anything with high burst damage close up. You don't have time and enough damage to kill everything anyways most of the time.
Picking weapons that help you survive is better than going for what you "like" on solo reincarnation runs.
