45 hours and still can't beat Yoruhime-Maru
I can take care of most of the rest of the game barring poor RNG, but I have never been able to solo the final boss, even with totally broken builds, the final phase of this fight is just a total ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Dodging the adds and the artillery during his barrier phase is bad enough, but the infinitely spawning poison clouds that hinder your ability to even dodge is the pits.
I've tried thinning them out before the barrier phase, but there doesn't really seem to be a way to handle the adds, shooting the mortars, damaging the boss, and clearing the clouds in a way that feels intended or "natural".
A lot of the other challenges in this game I've been able to get through either by better stats, better guns/scrolls, or better dodging but this thing's last phase is a total wall for me, it really feels like sensory overload and I really don't understand what to do against the constant AOE spam in the last leg of the fight

you already killed him on normal mode

You are not even level 100 with 48 hours? don't revive yoursefl that often

There are many defensive scrolls which help you - and level 2 players can beat the final boss (check the guides section)

If your playing the cat, try to make sure you keep up grenade where the eyeballs come from. Them traveling across the poison can kill them before they start to do their AOE and to me its the easier way to deal with them.

Managed it in a stack of 3, can't seem to pull it off solo or even a team of 2
Im sure with a coordinated team handling the cannons/mobs/clouds would be trivial but doing it all by myself seems like a lost cause. I can take triple comeback and not use up a single life the entire run until the final phase where i'll lose all the lives and still die after a revive. I saw the level 2 run against this boss and never *never* in any of my runs was I able to two-shot the octos like the guy in the run does outside of having nonsense like final judgement + midair strike + penetration Bullet

I try to go for an energy blade + sniper build as the cat to deal with problematic enemies like the snipers/sharks/monks and breeze past the first phase. I really think the only way I'm gonna beat this thing is to have snow boots + an insane element + crit build--I dont think there's any defensive scroll that'll reduce the threat of a million things on screen at once

also some of that time was playing on a seperate file so i could play with friends at a lower level

It took me forever to get it in co-op, did it the next game solo though, that laser glove is OP with the right scrolls, each cannon I touched just insa-died.

I beat him around level 48, third encounter. It wasn't clean but I was still wrapping my head around his stuff. Needed a revive at the very end. Went straight into elite mode and downed him without issue. Not sure if this is a build thing, I personally hate the cat and love the dog. Running moreo ften than not dual element for the dual wield, clearing most things with ease. What I end up doing for the boss is mostly just always stay on the move, I don't really clear the melee mobs, but I do clear all of the corrosion auras on sight. There's not much more to it than that for me.

Relax, learn how boss works and try to kill him.
Thats words from ME, i wasted 45 hours to kill him solo for the 1st time.
Im super trash in this game and also i have an old laptop and it can lag sometimes, but i think most of problems thats me being careless.
Last boss of this game is completly on different level of previous two, he is like a raid boss from MMORPG.

I mean, took me a lot of tries to get to him, but I killed him first try on both my Normal and Elite runs. What I had in common in both runs was the 90% dmg reduction when I'm distant. I feel like the 90%dmg reduction scroll is a must (or maybe im just bad) haha. I just had a bunch of elemental proc (100% whenever I swap weapons) so I melted him.

Dodging adds? You should blow them up in 1 sec. And you can just walk out of the cannon ball aoe, plus you can shoot the ones coming directly from the ship. He should be dead in less then 1 minute tbh.

having a good stack of damage resistance scrolls can help, one of the easiest runs I've had was a 2 man run with one of us having doubled shield and the other with doubled hp. in my case I had a few defensive ones(like lightless shield), which included for every 3 dashes you get resistance and most of the dash related scrolls. It felt like I took no damage during the fight.

alternatively if you can get lifesteal and at least one or two defensive things you can try to kite the enemies and use them to live while chipping at the boss.damage reduction inside grenade smoke, and related grenade ascencions could help with laying down a defensive field. aoe weapons like tiger or bone dragon would help you with adds or you could take the rainbow which can target nearby enemies without locking on and through terrain(i wouldn't be surprised if they nerf it).
I can understand the frustration as I've gone in with a great setup and extra health and just whiffed it, sometimes you'll be surprised by what works well. I've never gone in with a 'set strat' but hope this helps.

You have to kite the little catfish it spawns and kill the octo for the cannonball, killing them all in a second flat isn't something i've ever been able to do without a broken build and even then, I still have the clouds and the carpet bomb that seemingly covers every inch of the room in the 2 salvos it shoots. The range for the canonballs seems like it covers the entire arena from my experience, ♥♥♥♥ seems to blast me from any spot even if I'm far away from them and the only reasonable option to remove them as a threat is to shoot them out of the sky, which divides your attention from the mobs

I feel like I understand the elements of the fight well enough to know what I should be focusing on, but its like I'm expected to instantly snap to + delete every threat onscreen the frame it appears--making even a tiny error causes things to snowball out of control until your screen goes up in a cloud of red particles and you're on the floor

Get an blue elec glove with aoe, and like rof, crit and lucky shot are bonus. Put pts in elec, dmg by ele effect, grenade dmg, rate of fire, - dmg when hit by grenade. Just point the glove at the cannons, adds, whatever and it will kill them all immediately.
Yoruhime-Maru is kind of a check for every aspect of a strong run unless you've mastered the mechanics of the boss. Unless you're good enough at doing the boss you need:
1. A form of tankiness that can prevent you from getting 1 shotted by elysian artillery.
2. A way to regen your effective hp after you've been hit a fair deal.
3. A way to quickly clear the octupi who carry the cannon shells you need.

There are a ton of ways to solve these issues but you do need all of them if you want to clear the boss without solid experience against them.

if you can make it that far then you should be able to get it in the bag.

I found the hardest thing was understanding how the barrage worked, but once I knew what to expect (i.e. the first sets before the transition are always in a row that line up with you) then I simply used dash to avoid it.

The rest is simple. Dodge the barrage, do the things. Rinse and repeat

Dunno if it was the patch, but went in with a Rainbow Arch and a Double Caliber and swept him on Elite. Got two of the shield items in the same run and made the final phase a lot less of a death sentence if I botched dodging the AOE.
Garptain Jul 3, 2020 @ 5:51pm
It is possible to get to the last boss with builds that just aren't viable but for the most part you just need to be mindful of getting an OP combo in your run. With a defensive item or to he's not so bad. Honestly once you understand how he works the other two bosses can be harder some times lol.
