If you ask i suppose that you're lower than lvl 30 and play the kitten hero. (if not, consider using him more than ao bai cause ao bai need more talent tree unlock for really shine and compensate his non defensiveness by incredible firepower)
So if i can permit, he're 3 tips;
1 - Your weapon size matter, you'll run faster with the foundry (base weapon) or with light weapons. Consider using light for helping you.
2 - The neko "ultimate" (the orb) can't really "stop" him like it does with monsters BUT it break the boss momentum. Timed right, you can effectively "make him fall in place" when he try to jump to you.
3 - The boss room have 2 pillars, you can use them to make a barrier between you and him. He's large enough so you can hit him, without being hit yourself :)
It is possible to beat him without taking any damage at all.
Don't give up!
Do be aware that unlike some games dash does not actually give you god frames, you will still take damage if an attack hits you.
Keep as much distance from him as you can and always keep moving, dash alone won't always keep you from getting hit.
I certainly wouldn't say you are bad, just need to learn the timing a bit more, as most players have to starting out.
With the big projectile, don't dodge as soon as the dinner plate template shows up, you need the projectile to actually start launching to dodge it correctly. To be honest the indicators can be a bit misleading and boss animations are much better to look at for dodging in my opinion.
- Fighting Lu Wu without a shock weapon is very, very difficult. If I don't have one by the boss room, I reset. The Thunder Gloves are very good because they have excellent range and strip his shield.
- He should always be under toxic effects. Get grenade buffs. The orb is kinda useless except for some extra hits. The stun effect on him is inconsistent.
- Triple dash (a scroll pickup) makes this fight way easier.
- Miasma (shock + toxic) is incredibly effective against him.
- If you're behind a pillar, even if his targeting reticle is on the ground, his shot will hit the pillar.
- Always fire at him when he's recharging his shield. He will take shield damage even when recharging.
Overall, I feel this boss has approximately 10x as much health and WAY too much damage as he should for a level 1 boss. He can practically two shot you. Either less health or way less damage would make this boss more fun and less frustrating.
You can blow through Level 1 with kinda crappy RNG but still make it, and then slam right into Lu Wu and get destroyed, which feels unfair and unbalanced.
(overall try to avoid weapons that slow you down smg's and the kunai are pretty good weapons for this fight and as stated above elemental weapons help but the fight is still very achievable without them)
-when he throws the rock at you dash backwards, left, or right this (given you don't have slow effects) will let you dodge 100 percent of the time
-when he shoots lasers at you dash to your left or right then continue to jump and strafe to avoid the following lasers
-whenever he jumps towards you dash backwards while using your orb this will make him drop rather than leap to you.
-if he gets close enough to you to punch you a well timed dashed forward can avoid it.
basically the key to this fight is to memorize his moves and memorizing when to dash.
I kinda have to disagree with some of the people above, for me the boss feels completely fair, every time i get hit i feel like its my fault rather than poor game design. and given the right scrolls and weapons the boss can be easily killed under 2-3 minutes.
Hope this helps : )
