Controller not working?
Anyone have any suggestions on how to get my controller to work in this game? I'm using a PS4 controller and DS4Windows, turning off DS4Windows doesn't help though.

Just a tipp :
This game gets way too fast and hectic later on when you have to pinpoint weakspots while 20 other grunts rush you.
Mouse aim is infinitely better here

I just tried this w/ my PS4 controller and it worked fine. Steam has native PS4 controller support, so you shouldn't need DS4Windows.

I didn't do anything special, just loaded up the game and it recognized the controller immediately.

Have you configured your controller in Steam previously? You may need to open Steam in Big Picture mode and go to Settings -> Controller Settings -> Playstation 4 Configuration and make sure that the PS4 controller is checked.

It should recognize the controller after that.

If that doesn't work for you, I'm not sure what's wrong.

He should try staying on topic then. If the guy wants to use a controller then he wants to use a controller. He asked for controller support.

Yeah, I've tried, but had no luck. Maybe I'll try Big Picture->Game->Settings->Controller->Forced and see if that fixes anything. It's good to hear that this is a just me problem, gives me hope that there's a solution out there.

Cryorus: I dig that this, along with most other first person shooters, work better with kb/m, but I've been using a controller since, like, 1990, my hands just don't kb/m well. Trust me when I say that my results will be much better using an interface that I'm comfortable with than one that I don't know so well.... BUT!! I do appreciate that you're looking out for me! Maybe I'll learn one of these days. :)

I GOT IT TO WORK! I had to "Force" controller support through the Steam Big Picture mode, everything is good now!

And yeah, this game is gonna' be a b---h to play with a controller, I might HAVE to learn kb/m.

Nice, glad you figured it out. : )

As of this current patch, Xbox controllers work natively, so use Steam Big Picture to map your controllers to Xbox, mind the Xbox buttons on your HUD.

DS4 API is implemented, such that you can see the buttons work, but the sticks and triggers are mapped improperly, so the game is unplayable with native DS4.

The problem with the controller support in this game though, is that it also disables the mouse. People like me who are dependent on using a mixed controller/mouse configuration are used to using external software (like DS4Windows) to remap our keybindings so native controller support is not even needed in our case and game developers should not force it upon us like they do in this game as it only causes issues that are easily avoided with an option to simply disable the game's controller support entirely. /rant

I'm not knocking your situation, but I also feel like the use case for people using a hybrid controller + mouse setup is extremely limited and devs may not have felt that it was worth the resources to implement.

I do this from time to time in games like GTA where shooting w/ a controller is awful, but movement on keyboards is also awful.
