This is a glossary of FG terms that can be useful when reading guides
https://glossary.infil.net/index.html
And depending on how familiar you are with fighting game concepts in general this video is the best/simplest overview there is
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=riGCdE6ZPck
This match in particular is also really interesting on how you can use striker
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqytPGSV6Jg
And a little personal anecdote:
I'm in no way good at this game but i have some 300 ranked matches with Striker. Peaked at silver 2 tho.
A thing i noticed i struggled with a lot in mirror matches in particular is other strikers doing a better job in the mid range and catching me with something that becomes a combo. She seems to be very much about dancing around the opponent and capitalizing on their mistakes.
like if you watch that match you will see that the striker player is pretty much just doing one combo but being real careful about when to go in and landing it at every opportunity.
So it might be worth looking at your replays and seeing how those strikers that beat you caught you rather than stressing out over the big combo :D
As soon as you're confident doing the 8 basic combos that the tutorial shows you, go to practice and try to learn how to apply it and being creative. Analysing replays from others will help you too. Just catch what other Strikers are doing with their character.
Don't discourage yourself, I don't know your experience from fighting games but be aware that you'll face people having more experience than you do because of their background. You'll catch them up soon.
Mostly the problem is panic brain. I sat in the combo trials learning and doing all but the last two which have a ridiculously tight frame link that I'm struggling on but all the basic stuff, ez.
But when I get into a game? Panic. I don't know other peoples moves yet, I don't know what to expect. I half ass try to dodge roll sometimes which then kicks my combo thought process out. Half the time I got in I did nothing, other times I dropped etc. I don't know when to take my turn on people yet.
The more you play the more the combo part of it becomes literal muscle memory, your brain will no longer have to actively think about what to do it just happens. That leaves your brain free to process what THEY'RE doing so you can actually respond properly.
TLDR: You gotta eat dirt for awhile, sometimes its the only way. Take breaks too, and your brain processes things overnight. Each day you will improve.
Do those and understand what moves connect with what and then later you'll be able to formulate your own combos based on the situation. The game tells you what the moves do and what they are useful for already.
As for losing? Who cares.. losing is a byproduct of getting to the next level. If you can't emotionally handle a loss, the game lets you put private on your win/lose rate profile.
Expect to lose. Don't just play to win, play to enjoy the strategy of it, the animations ect.
Short scripts that let you hit one button on a keyboard that makes the game do a sequence of actions. I'm pretty sure this is not possible in DNF or any FG but who knows. Usually the game needs to have a built in feature for such a thing, typically MMO's like WoW or RIFT(basically put your entire damage rotation of abilities on key and mash it all day in this one lol).
I can confirm being on the receiving end of this that it is quite efficient lol.
