Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne

EASY SOLUTION to get Max Payne 2 to running on a newer PC!
Update: I made a guide for this. I think it's a little easier to read. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=440277611

So I just found an easy solution to get Max Payne 2 to run on newer systems. Before I had to mess with compatibility settings, create a batch file, and then launch it from there to get it to work. It was a mess. But with this new fix you can launch Max Payne 2 directly from Steam!

It's very simple:

1) Download ReShade 0.19.2 Public Beta[www.dropbox.com]

2) Extract the file you just downloaded and then run the "ReShade Setup.exe".

3) Click on "Select Game" and then choose the "maxpayne2.exe".

4) It won't be able to Auto-Detect the DirectX version so manually select the "Direct3D8".

5) Now click "Run MaxPayne 2 Application" and it should work! It might give you an error the first time you try to run it. That just means you need to launch it directly from Steam and it will work.

You can now run Max Payne 2 from Steam whenever you like!

This works for both Max Payne 1 and 2.

Here's a video if you want to see exactly how to do it.

Also, If you want you can you can use SweetFX that comes with ReShade for Max Payne 2. This was never possible before ReShade existed. I've been using SweetFX with a couple mods for Max Payne 2 and it's actually a pretty great improvement graphically.

Here's some comparison screenshots of the before and after with SweetFX/Mods:

Well, so I told everything as told by you and displayed in the video, but still I get the following error message:

"max payne 2 requires a microsoft directx 9.0 compatible display adapter. Please consult the troubleshooting readme in the installation folder."

Unfortunalety a research on the internet did not brought the any clarification regarding this issue. Help from you guys, would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Hmm... are you positive that you did it correctly?

I tested this fix on three different PC's and it worked on all of them. One had Windows 8 and the other two had Windows 7. What version of Windows do you have and what is your graphics card?

My solution on Windows 8.1 :
- Set WIndows XP SP 3 Compatibility Mode
- Launcher will works, be sure to disable Anti-Aliasing for running the game.

Yes I tried it a few times, I also tried to run it through a .bat file, but still no success?!? I really have no clue what I should do now, since Max Payne 1 is running without any problem tho'

I'm here to seek your help. I don't know If anyone would now to solve this.

I've made everything you put in that post, for Max Payne and also for Max Payne 2. Max Payne 1 runs perfect, and, when I initiate Max Payne 2, It gets stuck in the loading screen after the short Rockstar cinematic, before entering the menu I supose. I don't know what is happening. I have a Windows 8.1 system.

Thank you.

What is your graphics card?

My graphics card is not the problem at all. I've got a lot of modern games with upper graphics and I have no problem with it because they all run. Anyway, I don't know a lot about PCs, so, If It gives any help, is an AMD 8. 1Gb.

I think that MP2 could have some problem with AMD/Radeon hardware. In my computer with that parts MP2 is not working and in my friend PC, with Intel/GF hardware MP2 works perfectly fine.
