Hi all,

Been trying to get my copy of MP2 to work on my Laptop. I've tried most of the suggestions and I don't seem to be able to get it to work. I'm running Windows 8.1 and trying to install the game on my second HDD (1st is a SSD for the OS only) and all other games seem to work fine run through it.

I can get the loader to boot up but when i try to play the game it comes up with the following error "Exception in engineInit:Unable to load save game "Files". File does not exist or it is not a valid savegame file.". Not sure if this is a windows 8 ism but i'm assuming that it doesn't seem to be able to find the save game location to make new saves. Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this?

I've tried making a folder called "Max Payne 2 Savegames" in my documents but it doesn't seem to be helping.

I made a post detailing the exact same problem on the 21st and so far it still has zero replies. I don't expect to get any solutions at this point. It seems like some people can just play it using the various methods outlined in this forum and elsewhere on the internet, and others like us simply can't.

YEAHHHHHSSSS. after hours of troubleshooting i have found an solution for windows 7 64bit.

copy the WHOLE : Max Payne 2 The Fall of Max Payne ,folder to your C drive. When its done copying, go to google and type in max payne 2 no cd crack, and pick the GameCopyWorld like ( first link on google ) download the 1.0v no cd crack, when its done with downloading open the zip file ( 1.0v no cd crack ) and copy the maxpayne2.exe file to the Max Payne 2 The Fall of Max Payne folder in your C drive. then go right click on the copyed maxpayne2.exe file and launch it in windows98/ME compatibility mode, and click on apply. make sure you start it from the cracked maxpayne2.exe file. this worked for me, all the other fixes did not worked for me, i dont know if ppl are still having this problem, or are active on this problem forum. but this is an legit fix, i hope that this fix is helpfull. if not i am am sorry. PS: Sorry steam that i used an no cd file but this was the only fix that worked for me and you did not have an correct fix on your steam community, i have bought this bundel pack though you for 15 euro´s and nothing worked so i needed tho do this and help other ppl. I know my post is 2 years too late and you probably have found a solution already, but setting the game (right click in the steam library > Set Launch Options) with -developer fixed the issue for me.
