SOLUTION Get the game to run perfect on Windows 11

Had a bit of problems with this one, old game and all that.

Do the following:
1. download the files from this site
https://github.com/fkortsagin/Max-Payne-2-Fix-Windows-11
- Do this by clicking the green button saying "code" --> Download ZIP

2. Copy the files into the main directory (where the Max Payne 2 .exe is)
- d3d8.dll
- d3d8.ini
- global.ini
- LICENSE

3. Open the folder "FPS Monitor Resolution Lock for 1080p Patch" and copy over follwing files to the same main directory (overwrite when asked)
- d3d8.dll
- d3d9.dll
- d3d9.ini
- global.ini
- LICENSE
- MaxPayne2.WidescreenFix.asi
- MaxPayne2.WidescreenFix.ini

4. Run the game like normal, change resolution to 1080p. Put all other settings to Max (no pun intended)

5. Enjoy Max Payne with less pain.

This also works perfectly on Windows 10. Thanks a lot for sharing this information. It's crazy how publishers/devs (whatever) left the game -and be done with it- to people to figure it out if it works or not.
