Payne Effects 3, Payne Evolution, both, or some other mod?

Which mod is best for the game? I read that Evolution is compatible with Payne Effects 3, but how do you use both when the game makes you choose between the two in the launcher? Are they automatically merged when they are both installed at once? How is the game with both enabled? Is there better mod that improves upon the vanilla game?

Payne evolution can be very buggy, and is of course closer to max payne 3. but Payne effects 3 keeps the base gameplay while improving it.
