Do these games work without unofficial patches on Win 11?
Hello,
Could someone confirm if the Steam version of MP 1 and 2 work without fan made patches on Win 11. I have been eyeing the 2 pack bundle for a while and currently tempted to pull the trigger as its only $4.50 for both games.
I am okay as long as the game boots and runs and do not care for acess to high resolutions, fps or better quality textures.
Thanks!

Never mind, ended up buying it, game runs well except for sound during the comic panels. shame there are no work around besides fan made patches.

startup fix: https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=51579

Allows you to cap frame rate. This fixes Max getting stuck in scenery.

Sound files fix (narration and level music): https://www.oldguygeek.com/max-payne-sound-fix-with-download-files-6

With this, Max Payne plays like it should.

Yeah i understand but since they bought the game, i wanted to suggest the most important fixes.

In the store page it says the game does not support modern OSs like Win 10/11
"Microsoft® Windows® 2000/XP (only)"

It's a shame because it's not impossible to fix the game. The rights are not in limbo, and the company that owns them is rich.

The game starts up but it doesn't quite work without patches. You need:
1. Sound fix for cutscenes: Max.Payne.sound.patch.1.12.1.beta.
2. Widescreen fix, otherwise the image and characters are stretched.
3. dgVoodoo2_84 + MaxPayneStartupHangPatchv1.01, to limit the framerate. This is a DX8 game and this means it will not abide, without the patch, by the FPS limit set in the Nvidia control panel.

In order to "use both dgvoodoo and the widescreen fix together, just rename the d3d8.dll from the widescreen fix to dinput.dll." There is also a compilation patch on this forum if you are willing to install it (with admin rights) and trust the package. I do not trust it, so I manually applied the aforementioned patches.

So no, it will not properly work without patches; therefore, I do not recommend it unless you are willing to do some work to run it. This is of course Rockstar's fault, they definitely have the financial means to fix this game before posting it for sale on Steam.

Here's the sound fix for Max Payne 1. It works even on Windows 11.
