Who Hates The Nightmares in this game ?

I loved the nightmare sections, but the second one where you OD on V is a ♥♥♥♥♥ since it requires jumping and walking on tightropes marked with blood, you can easily slip off or your jump will ♥♥♥♥ up because the PC version for me is ♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Don't suppose annyone knows a fix for the controls?

I hate the nightmare cuz I can't change brightness on Win10.
It's too dark in some scences.

It's annoying after you have to get past it for the second time. I always end the Punchinello Mansion with the thught ''OH NO NOW I WILL HAVE TO DO THIS LOOONG NIGHTMARE SEQUENCE'' It's boring.

I can't jump on the 2nd nightmare sequence for some reason.

I hated them. I do like the idea a lot but I just don't like the way the levels are laid out. Fortunately, I've played this game so many times I've gotten most of the nightmare levels memorized. From scream, to painful scream...

Those parts are extremely immersive to me, so much so due to the difficulty of bypassing to see how far Max Payne's story will unwrap itself to reveal his tradegy.

Lol, there have been points in times where I've played the game over and over again, and I know the bloodtrails like the back of my hand, and then whenever I come back I always forget the route xD

It's really one of the very few annoying parts of this game.

I'm stuck here too. There's something wrong with the controls during the dream sequences. Sometimes Max will gravitate toward the walls while I'm running in a straight line and I have to jump or dive to break free from the wall. I'm currently on the blood trail (second dream) and I can't get Max to jump. The controls are completely messed up. Looks like the game ends here for me. I have no choice, I'm at an impasse. Not only that, but this game is rediculously difficult and I'm playing on the easy or normal setting. Something is not quite right with the difficulty. It's like I'm playing on insane difficulty and I'm not exaggerating in the least. I've just about worn out the quick save and load buttons on my keyboard. It could be a compatibility issue with modern hardware, I don't know. I guess I'll give Max Payne 2 and 3 a try.

Oh, and I hate the dream sequences, too. No joy.

Yeah there are some weird issues with the game's compatibility but I say don't give up!

Check out here, there's a few cheats you can use to hopefully get through that sequence.

Windows 10 won't let me add an extension (-developer) to the executable file, which would allow me to input the cheat codes. I used to be able to do that with older versions of Windows, but not with 10. Anyway, thanks for trying to help.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I did try restarting the blood trail sequence several more times but I still can't get Max to jump in some places. He just lurches forward like he's slipping on ice, but he won't make the jump. Hard to explain. I'm just gonna move on to MP2 now.

Ah alright... That sucks. I know on the console versions, they had an all-levels unlocked cheat code. Kind of odd that they didn't put that in the PC version....

That cheat code was only in the much inferior PS2 version, I believe, as it was the only version that didn't have a quick save system (like the PC and Xbox version), instead you choose your last level played. Max Payne 2 was the first real MP game to feature a jump to chapter system.

A 100% save file wouldn't change anything, it would just unlock all the gamemodes for him.

To me the sequence wasn't that bad but that's because I got lucky and found a shortcut that finished the segment in like 5 minutes. I made sure to memorize it and it makes it much less of a nightmare and that pun was intentional.

I thought it added a lot to the immersion I haven't played this in several years but was a great game for it's time, it's a shame it got worse and worse, shorter and a pain in the ass, I died so many damn times on the last game that I simply gave it up. Never got far in it found it boring.

First game though is a must have.

The last game is difficult and doesn't really carry the spirit of the previous, but it's still a fun game if you like the challenge.
