Max Payne

FPS Limit (Nvidia Control Panel) does not work
When I play the game "normal" / uncapped, I get around 400 to 600 fps... what would break the game. I applied the Max Payne 1 Fix Pack, v1.2023.1 (which is supposed to enable fps caps), but even though I limited my max refresh rate to 144 (also tried 120 and 90 - but 144 would be ideal), it has no effect: In-game I still have the uncapped framerate.

Does anyone have experience with that or knows possible solutions?

My system: Win10, RTX 2080, 16GB RAM, i7 4790 CPU, Monitor with 144Hz
and for the Fix Pack, I selected all the default recommended options (Crosire's Directx8to9 Wrapper, DSOAL wrapper, WideScreen Fix, AMD Ryzen3 Fix and all support files).

Usually if it doesn't work, it's not installed in the right directory, to check look if if d3d8.dll is in your game directory. And of course vsync should be enabled in the nvidia control panel.

Uninstall the fix and then re-install it, making sure you select the game directory and don't go one directory too deep. If you can't figure it out, friend me and I will help you setting it up.

Use a third party program called RivaTuner to cap the frame rate. It works like a charm.

For me, the fix pack only works properly when starting the game via testapp.exe, not by launching through steam
