seems it works reasonably in indoor area's but the skybox is a problem and everything looks like polished marble ...

is working on it still as alot of the textures are really bugged if you just play it with the files.
he says he'll release it soon when everything is fixed so i would just wait
this is what i tried (on w11):
https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/zo75oo/max_payne_rtx_with_portalrtx_files_linux/
but as soon as i activate the dx8to9 fix it crashes (saying i need a directx 8 compatible display adapter), if i don't activate it, it just runs in dx8 mode and rtx-remix doesn't work at all of course.
also tried with cosire's wrapper, same thing.
guess we just have to wait for someone to tell us how they did it.
This is exactly what happened when I tried it: I copied the Portal RTX files into the game folder where the exe is, specifically the following files (.trex folder and the d3d9.dll, dxvk_d3d9.dll, and NvRemixBridge32.dll) and when I replaced the d3d9.dll with the dx8 wrapper and tried to start the game it'll immediately crash with that error. I wonder what is going wrong and what part is breaking
In any case, I greatly appreciate the responses and hopefully they'll be an actual application of the nvidia toolset to update this game. It's novel to see any kind of results by just copying assets so I wanted to see what it looks like firsthand
rtss indicates dx8 however and fps goes through the roof, so it obviously doesn't do dx9. (i can ofc. limit this with rtss) also tried it without rtss active, but same result.
tried renaming the widescreen fix's d3d8.dll to dinput.dll (thinking maybe the rtx mod would try to insert a similar named file?) that way widescreen still loads, but UseD3D8to9 doesn't work.
for the other points you mentioned:
white movie: for now just disabled it by renaming the movie to some other name, seems to be an issue lately, i suspect it's a nvidia driver issue.
no sound: used the dsoal files and the reg fix. indirectsound tested too
jpeg errors: the new cpu aka ryzen fix was needed on my 13600k
