did you play it in big picture mode?valve advertises that all games on steam work with the steam controller through big picture mode. I do not have the steam controller so I am just stating what I read on the store page and in articles.
good to know it works though. also big picture mode is to make steam like a console so of course if you are a pc gamer and not a console gamer big picture mode will suck.
I bet it will work 100% if you make Steam Controllers desktop (kb / m) settings to match games bindings and dont use Big Picture at all. Just launch the game from desktop.
Emulate the PS2 version, it runs perfectly in PCSX2 these days, has been for a while.
Highest settings 10210u i5 (<60w notebook)
Go to settings tick steam [whichever controller type] and steam controls Vs in game support choose steam.
Enter big picture mode, load MP2 press the controller's home button (Xbox,PS,steam etc)
Fiddle with some setting if still needed, but it's auto-mapped so shouldn't.
That's (almost) how it worked, but for me it was then more.. involved..
Microsoft game bar was conflicting a bit at first, behind game bar was controller map screen stating MP2 control which are automatically mapped to my generic controller as kB+ mouse using it's analogue sticks: WIN
It was however, extremely quick mouse sensitivity with the right hand stick and L/R triggers to "click"
So turned in game X and Y settings down, no joy, so repeated as above behind game bar to control map page and turned down sensitivity, with no obvious "accept changes" or dialogue I had to then repeat this for change to take effect, only diff I used "B" button instead of mouse exiting the menu.
It was then maaaaad slow as I put to lowest first... but the control map screen would not return!! 🤦♂️🤦♂️
Stuck slow.
Was just showing similar settings page as outside of bigpicture mode.
Thankfully if I turn the in-game X +Y axis to full again it is just about fast enough/playable... Wish I could find my way back to that menu though.
I love consoles but Bigpicture mode does not emulate experience successfully for me at all and found myself in different menus every time I pressed the same button.
Turning off in windows settings "allow controller to open game bar" seems to make no difference either.
