Max Payne Graphic Flickering
Ive gotten both 1 and 2 to work but Im wondering if anyone knows if theres a solution to fix some weird flickering. With 1, there's weird flickering during the title menu like it flickers outside in a border. With 2, during the graphic novel scenes, there's intermittent flickering which makes me think its the wrapper, as it tries to stretch back to its original resolution but then fixes its, if that makes sense. Thanks!

Maybe it is the AA options, if you set AA in the game's options sometimes it can cause strange effects because it tries to use some old fashioned method of AA. Best to create a profile in your graphics driver panel and set it from there. An other thing could be the triple buffering option from the game, double usually works better.

A question I have to ask is what wrapper you are using, might be an option to use an other wrapper if you think that is the cause.

@darkje I used the maxpayne fix all exe and I dont remember which wrapper I choose. Is there a way to check and see if its up to date? Triple Buffering is turned off. AA, is that anti-aliasing? If so those are turned off.

I think in that one it would be cosire's dx8to9 wrapper. You can check the current version by right clicking d3d8.dll in your game folder, and in the properties of the file you should be able to find the version in use.

I've posted an update fix for 2020 in the guides section. That one will allow you to choose between cosire's and dgVoodoo wrappers. If you have multiple graphic adapters, dgVoodoo is the way to go, it comes with a control panel that will allow you to select on what card the game is rendered. (might be using the internal one now, instead of your dedicated gfx card)

I appreciate the help darkje. I actually got both resolved. I deleted all the wrapper files and scripts in both folders and then used to files in the Widescreen Fix that ThirteenAG made for both games. Started fresh. Fixed both issues. :)

okay, good job, but now you probably will face the issues of getting too high frames per second. You need to limit it to your monitors refreshrate in some way, doesn't matter how. The problem is windows 10 ignores vsync settings on directx8 :')
