Yea I came up with this one recently, it's a compilation of 4 patches, that fixes 5-6 possible issues. Even if you don't have all of them, it won't harm either.

10 years ago I came up with my first Max Payne patch, the well known soundfix, but over time other complications started to surface mostly related to newer, faster hardware and operating systems, so this is the one for the current state of the game.

So far it's working great! This fixed a lot of my problems I was having to deal with earlier like audio not working sometimes, cutscenes having no audio, slow start menu, etc. This is my first time playing through the game and I'm glad I ran across your post because the issues were putting me off big time.

No idea how to fix it, help appreciated

This patch is not working for me. It gets stuck at 76% unable to rewrite a certain file that i'm too lazy to paste here.
What could it be ?. I'm trying to play this game on Windows 8 and technical requirements should not be a problem with such an old game

Maybe your antivirus didn't like what it was doing, you can try to apply the fixes included one by one manually. I don't think the specs would matter at this point.

I am quite interested to know what file you got stuck on :D, so if you could manage to name it i would be pleased.

Would you believe me if i tell you that i tried to patch the game again and this time i had no problem?
Maybe it was because i tried to run the game before patching it, and even if i wasn't playing the game files were working.
By the way this patch is excellent, i doubt that there is any problem with it.

I had this error everytime I tried to start the game directly through exe file. For some reason when doing so through Steam (which basically does the same thing as user) it was usually working, and if not – it wasn't giving this error.
