March 16 2021 - Patch Notes
Fellow Command & Conquer fans,

Over the past several months we have heard requests for a reset to the Quickmatch Ladder and a fix for the unbalanced Turkey sub-faction. We were able to launch a small server-side update today with the following changes:
  • Reset the Quickmatch ladder and launched Season 4
  • Quickmatch ladder resets will now happen automatically every three months at the beginning of each month starting June 1
  • Removed the Turkey sub-faction Build Speed bonus (essentially reverted back to June 2020 launch status)
Note: Since this is a server-side update, this change only affects online play. Skirmish and LAN will still have the Build Speed bonus.

Thanks for your ongoing support, and we hope this update improves your experience with the C&C Remastered Collection.

Really appreciate the reset of the ladder. Would it be possible to change the map pool for each reset also? We love the game but it's getting tedious playing the same 8 maps repeatedly. I can think of no other changes that need to happen other than this. Thank you for continuing to support this amazing game.

Kind regards.

Thank you for your support, after all this time you've woken up. Automatic seasons are a DREAM come true! But: What does it actually do now when we chose turkey? Any effects at all?

I am really surprised in a very positiv way. I feel this is a great statement to the community. :)

With the Tiberian Dawn Quickmatch Mappool in a pretty decent state (since previous patch), many players within the competitive multiplayer community do wish for especially one map to be replaced (due to imbalance in gdi vs nod): Tournament Desert.

As the support window for client updates has passed, the only option would be to replace this map with an existing map (that is already in the game files / client). By picking a map that is already in the client, no client patch is needed, but only a small server-side update.

In an effort to kindly ask EA to please make this one map 'selection' change for us , I've created a poll for us to decide which map (by the-community-named-candidates) hopefully becomes the chosen one.

Please take the poll on the link below (if you play Tiberian Dawn Quickmatch):

So, Turkey get no bonus when you play online? What's the point of playing it now?

The only point is that it's back to how it was in the original game, with the bonus disabled, to remove the fact its bonus was apparently really unbalanced, to the point everyone only played Turkey.

Devising an actual solution with a reduced bonus for Turkey would require internal testing, and since support officially ended, I don't think they got any teams to do testing with anymore, so they can't experiment for better solutions. So I guess this is better than nothing.

Updates, even just server-side ones for multiplayer, are good.

Does this patch give an option to turn-off the AI chat-box in skirmishes, and does it get rid of the out-of-place and bad-sounding thrown-grenade sound when using the classic audio?

I haven't played the game since September because when I did play it for a bit after getting it, there were issues that were serious obstacles to enjoying the game.

Hi. Thanks for continuing to update the game. I have some feedback for the game.

Could an option please be added to disable the plopping / plucking / popping sound that plays when a grenade is thrown? I can't think of how that SFX could make sense, and it just isn't needed. The cartoonishnes of it is pretty out-of-place with the rest of the game's sound design. I find that sound sticks-out like a sore thumb and, to me, is an annoyance.

Another issue with it is that, in the game, I have the sound effects set to the original, not remastered versions. That SFX is still present at that setting, despite it not being a part of the original game's SFX (neither in the DOS or Win95 versions).

I would prefer that sound effect could be turned-off for both the original and the remaster sound effect settings. But, at minimum, I think it should be able to be off when using the original SFX, and should be off by default, because it's not a part of the original SFX and so contradicts the setting labelled "Original SFX".

Because it isn't a part of the original game's sound effects, I wonder if it playing when the sound setting is set to use the original SFX is a bug.

I've also noticed that there can be long breaks of silence between music tracks playing. I think I've counted-up to around 10 seconds of silence between tracks. While in the original game, there's like less than 1 second of silence between music tracks.

The long silence between tracks in Remastered is uncomfortable and messes with the flow. Whether it's a bug or not, I hope it can be brought more in-line with the original game to give a smoother and more consistent listening experience.

The maximum music volume in the game is still pretty quiet relative to the other sliders, and I'm pretty sure that it's not as loud as the music slider in the original game enables. In order to get a good music-to-SFX balance, I need to set the music slider to its max and then turn-down the other sliders to create more volume difference between them, and then turn-up the master volume slider.

So, some more maximum volume on the music slider would be nice. It's manageable as it is, but the music slider does seem to have less on tap than the others.

Another suggestion I have is to simply let the intro logo movie be skipped by clicking the mouse.

Right now, when the mouse is clicked during the intro movie, a message appears on the screen that says "Press Esc to skip". If that message is being shown, then it's acknowledged that the player is wanting to skip the intro movie. So, why not just skip it at that point, rather than tell the play to reach to press a different button to do the thing that it's detected they want to do?

If the player didn't want to actually skip the intro movie, then they'd know not to press the mouse button during the intro movie the next time they load the game.

Having to reach to press the Escape key to skip the intro movie is, I think, the only time during playing the game that the keyboard needs to be touched at all. If pressing the mouse button would also skip the intro, then the entire experience from game-launch until game-close could be done with only the mouse.

There desperately needs to be an option to turn-off the AI chat box. It's annoying and serves no necessary purpose, but it obstructs visibility and target click-space.

Turbo Nozomix... support for the game ended. There's no way any of that will still be implemented -_-

And the grenade sound was always in the game, it just didn't work due to a bug. There's a mod on the workshop if you want to disable it.

But support literally didn't end, which is proven by the fact that you're making your comment in a thread about a new patch.

I'm sure Petroglyph don't need you to speak for them. Their own words sufficiently speak for themselves. As the previous patch notes say:

"This announcement and roadmap may change as we listen to community feedback and continue developing and evolving our Live Service & Content. We will always strive to keep our community as informed as possible."

No, the thrown-grenade sound wasn't always in the game. Though, this is the first time I'm hearing it claimed that it just didn't play due to a bug.

Regardless, it isn't complementary to the game and it literally doesn't play in the original game and so shouldn't play when using the classic sound setup for the remaster. It can play in the remaster sound setup for the remaster. But the classic sound setup should be the classic sound setup.

And they've been doing a bad job at it. At least Nyerguds reads these forums and answered some of our questions. EA doesn't which is proven by the fact that you are replying to him and are still making the same complaints.

They said they listened to the community feedback, including Nyer because I'm sure some of the contents in the remasters are there because of him. He knows a lot more about C&C1 than anyone at EA so I do want him to speak for them. At least I am getting informed about something about the game.

About the grenade sounds, he meant it was always in the game files.

@EA_Aeter
31/03/2021 report

Thanks for the news, and following the recent patch notes I have a few questions, i think we would all be lying to ourselves if we agreed that the remastered version of this game is a finished product because i beg to differ. there is a list of things i strongly recommend you put forward to the devs please.

1) The game still has performance issues that needs to be tweaked.

2) After some testing i noticed the devs have removed "force firing" into shroud? players are unable to force fire on a structure with aircraft and it was in the original, speaking of removing or patching gameplay can you please patch the cruiser battleships as they're able to force fire into water which makes naval warfare completely unbalanced 1 cruiser can force fire onto subs and destroy them all even when they are underwater. removing the force fire with naval units would be a real treat. that would encourage naval warfare online also.

3) we can't allow this game to die or stay stale, like someone else mentioned add more variety to the quickmatch gameplays more maps would be a start! 8 maps on rotation that's under killing the potential its become real boring now.

4)Overall more Quality of life improvements, lobby and server need tweaking take a look it doesn't run smooth. also please consider adding more options within the rules of gameplay i.e more money or custom amount, general lobby options, and the one i personally would love to see is a selection of MORE FACTION colours to choose from, this version of the game is missing tons of stuff from the original and for it to be a remastered version it's a little disappointing.

These are small issues that amount to greater overall enjoyment of the game.
please forward this on.

Kind regards
