Game doesn't even start
Worked fine on Windows 7. New computer with Windows 11, failure to launch. Tell me again why I shouldn't sail the seas if companies won't even ensure the games work for users?

the problem lies with your computer.

don't blame the game at all.

----------------------------------------

i'm using windows 11, i'm able to run and play this game without a single problem at all.

Technically that's the operating system. If someone is going to sell something then perhaps they should have a warning "Will not work on Windows 11" or something.

The remaster works fine on Win11. No idea what graystripe is on about.

What hardware is in your new computer? The remaster does not tend to work well on systems without a graphics card with dedicated VRAM.

Man, do you think this remaster will work on my 512MB Vram graphics card? I really wanna play this game, will you think that's enough? Or should I get the C&C Collection?

i have seen plenty of threads lying around on Steam Forums where people put up the same post as OP where they blame the game and the game developers when they can't run this game or that game.

--------------------------------------------------

my desktop which was updated from Windows 10 to Windows 11, using nvidia geforce gt 730 and 8 GB of RAM can run this game with zero problems.

my desktop graphics card driver is completely 100% outdated(final version is out on 9th july 2024) and yet i can still run and play this game.

---------------------------------------------------

i surmise that OP's CPU Specs is higher than mine.

-------------------------------------------------

most common problem which i notice is this

1) press play on the game

2) the game run for a few secs to several secs

3) then it close by itself

-----------------------------------------------

to find out the problem is to go to the "even viewer" and look for the error at the time it occurs for the game.

---------------------------------------------

this guy here in the Xcom EU/EW thread here

https://steamcommunity.com/app/200510/discussions/0/597394771139401503/

he provided plenty of details of the problem he is having through the Event Viewer.

That's a bit tight. I think the remaster needs at least a gigabyte, probably two.

Pretty sure it's a problem with the game/developer. Couldn't run a lot of the C&C Collection I bought earlier either. Decided to go back to CnCNet and that works perfectly. The fact that I can play many other games tells me it's less likely to be a computer issue and more likely to be an issue with making sure their software is compatible problem.

CPU : i7 11800H
RAM : 16GB
GPU : Nvidia RTX 3080 8GB laptop version

what programs do you have running in the background other than Steam and anti virus program?????

do not forget that there are 3rd party programs that are in conflict with Steam and most likely preventing Steam Games from running.

---------------------------------------------------

best part is that OP can run and play Killing Floor 2 game and i notices that the system requirements for Killing Floor 2 is lower than C & C remastered collection.

especially the requirements for graphics card driver.

Sure. Because a series of ten games developed over a span of 30 years obviously all have exactly the same issues. :steamfacepalm:

Yes, the games don't work, hence it's a problem with the game. Why is it CnCNet can make it work? Or OpenXcom as another example, but pay for it on Steam and be prepared to list background processes in an attempt to solve the issue.

If an app doesn't run on my phone I don't blame my phone.

computers and handphones are vastly different from one another.

do not compare iphone and androids to Laptops and Desktops.

the difference between handphones and computers are EXTREMELY HUGE.

here are the differences

1) iphones and androids don't have keyboards and numpads while laptops and desktops got

2) laptops and desktops have better graphics cards, faster processor speed, more RAM, more space on the hard drive..........etc.

iphones and androids don't have that at all.

3) laptops and desktops can use the mouse. iphones and androids don't have that function at all.

4) laptops and desktops components are easy to find and replace especially RAM sticks

for the 4th one, iphones and androids, especially iphones, you have to go to the Apple shop and seek help from the staff there to troubleshoot the problem on your iphone same goes with android.

and many more

-----------------------------------------

just these 4 points i stated above is more than enough.

Idk dude, works fine for me.
Have you tried reinstalling?
Have you tried restarting?
Installing the game in a different folder maybe?
Any troubleshooting at all?

I bought the game on 70% sales, took 20 min to install 18gb game files, can launch to the menu where it ask if you wanna play cnc remastered, red alert remastered or map editor, clicking any of these will result to nothing, the "X Stop" button on steam turns to "Play", indicating game failed to launch , most prob due to crash, Validating steam game files 5 times doesnt fix it, reinstalling it twice doesnt fixed it

Laptop spec
AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX with Radeon Graphics 3.30 GHz
24.0 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Laptop GPU
1TB SSD Storage (250 GB free)

I can safely say it could be either game or pc problem, the issue with the game is there's direct live support to help you out troubleshooting this game, there's no official discord can help you, there's no channel in CnC community either, so people who just like me who JUST bought the game and JUST wanna play the game have no way to find a way to fix this, best google result will gives bunch of unrelated reddit thread and 1 youtube video from 4 years ago who teaches you how to fix on steam using file integrity and origin repair

have you tried closing and exiting all hidden icons on your windows taskbar????? (exclude your anti virus program and nvidia geforce control panel)

i don't have any 3rd party programs running in the background except norton 360, nvidia geforce control panel and steam gaming platform.

if this still can't solve your issue, then check to make sure your anti virus program is not blocking Steam and Steam Games from accessing the internet at all.

if you got programs like malwarebytes, there is the possibility that it is conflicting with Steam and Steam Games.

p.s your CPU specs is even higher than my desktop, yet i can still play the c & c remastered collection without problem.
