Command & Conquer™ Remastered Collection

Vezi statistici:
Red Alert Skirmish
I have been playing/trying to play Skirmish on Red Alert for some time. I remember before on the OG that you could run against 7 other AI's with no lag problems. Now whenever it gets 10-20 minutes in, the game starts lagging. Sometimes after 5-10 minutes of this it will stop, but most of the time it persists and gets frustrating. I try to que more units or build something but "Unable to comply, building in progress" and "Cannot deploy here" are said which on screen makes no sense. I experimented numerous times with the space-bar to change the graphics back and forth; and from what I am seeing, the new remastered graphics do not line up with the old. (For example, I will be on OG graphics and the building will be placed, but if I switch back to remastered graphics the building is not built yet.) The final odd thing I am seeing is it looks like if you try to quit a skirmish game while this lag is happening, it will treat it like an actual ranked game and will pop up a 'Connection Interrupted' box. I took a picture of this on my phone while it happened but I am unsure how to post pictures. Not sure if anyone else has come across these problems, any discussion is welcome.

The limits on maximum amount of units and buildings the game can handle were there in the original games too. 300 infantry, and the original C&C95 stops allowing you to get more on the map in any conceivable way, including even stuff like selling buildings. RA has similar limits. As far as I know, the Remaster even raised those limits.

So yea. That's definitely not new.

Intel(R) Celeron (R) N4000 CPU 1.10 GHz, plenty of RAM since I am using a external hard drive, 64 bit OS. Thats very odd though, I never recall anytime my PC back then had any lag or delay when playing with the max unit count. I thought since EA implemented that remaster graphics mode that it might have messed with other game mechanics.

There is your issue minimum system requirement is among other things:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 @ 2.4ghz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400 @ 2.4ghz

And since that is a mobile CPU, do you even have a dedicated graphics card? Doesn't look like you are quite up to spec here

Yea, people easily underestimate how heavy sprite games are... it's a whole lot of high-res images to handle. On a model, everything gets loaded in once, and then the object exists, but in sprites, each of the rotation states is a separately rendered high-res image...

You make a fair point, guess I overestimated how far technology would come, but then again thats what I get for using a laptop.

So the only real way to run most games is through desktop it seems unless your buying a gaming laptop which is probably not worth building your own PC.
