C&C Remastered missing skirmish maps? by KnightBob7.
While I'm kinda new to C&C generally, I'm wondering why isn't there the original skirmish maps from Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert 1 with the expansion packs?
Was it because some skirmish maps are bad by design?
Is it because for memory space reasons?
While there are some original skirmish maps from the old games of TD(Tiberian Dawn) and RA(Red Alert 1), why didn't EA or the developers put the entire skirmish map roster from both games into the C&C Remastered game?
I want to have the maps from the TD and RA skirmish maps put in or why didn't some skirmish maps were cut from being put into the game.

Which ones are you missing?

And, for the record, the PS Retaliation version does not contain any more maps than that, as researched here.

Oh for balance reasons, though some of the skirmish maps are good looking, but are poorly balanced.

Thanks Nyerguds!

The Village of the Unfortunate isn't in Tiberian Dawn
The skirmish maps of Straight and Narrow and Monkey in the Middle are there.
However if anyone wants to download the map files from Nyerguds, you can do it now to experience the rest of the maps.
However, insert the files you got into the either the Tiberian Dawn of Red Alert 1 files through this directly: \Documents\CnCRemastered/Local_Custom_Maps\ either into Tiberian_Dawn or Red_Alert

I just checked, and it's in there all right. Very bottom of the list. In fact I played on it a while ago.

The only map in TD that I know is actually problematic is Cactus Valley, since the visceroids on that one, which are supposed to guard the tiberium field, instead swarm one specific player from the start of the game. On the original, this was always the most northern player, but in the Remaster it still happens, only they take the closest player. But even that map wasn't removed; it's still in there.

Some of the maps are in the "wrong" category too. Like Tiberium Garden can fit 5 players but is at the 4 players map part of the list. Treasure Isle has 8 starting spots but is at the 6 players section. I'm guessing this is done since those maps are not recommended for too many players, just extra starting spots (Treasure Isle also had (4-6) written at its name in the original to suggest the number of players for the map).

Yea, I'm guessing they didn't adapt Tiberium Garden correctly after increasing the maximum amount of players to 6.

So why didn't they put in 3 player and 5 player skirmish maps then?
Was it suppose to be patched in later?

Huh? I'm not sure what you're talking about. The amount of multiplayer starting points you can set in the editor has always been 6, and they even accidentally increased it to 8 in the last patch (though those last two obviously won't work)

What I mean is why didn't the developers put some of those maps with only up to 3 or 5 players in specific maps to have their own roster of 3 player and 5 player skirmish maps?

I think all official C&C maps except Tiberium Garden actually have 6 starting points, because that was the original internal maximum, and the original game had issues with maps that had less starting points than that internal maximum. But since the final release version of the game reduced this to 4, there was no problem with the 5-player Tiberium Garden map either.

But the Remaster rewired all that and fixed those issues, so I'm guessing they re-evaluated some of the smaller / more cramped maps, and classified them to be more suitable for less players and reduced the amount of starting points on them.

Ok, but I was wondering about the recently introduced maps from other plays specifically, the 2 player skirmish maps that weren't in the original Tiberian Dawn Skirmish map roster.
Why are those 2 maps there? Was there a chance your custom skirmish map could be in the Tiberian Dawn/Red Alert 1 skirmish map roster?

It's because the original maps were not balanced for 1v1, so the official quickmatch took those community maps and made them official, so now they appear in the official listing of the maps.

The guy who created the map Quarry (achromicwhite) said that in one of his streams if I remembered right.

They inquired about that stuff, yea. I'm not exactly sure how that selection process went, but there wasn't like a contest or anything.
