If you're just getting into RTS games, I would also recommend Age of Empires II Definitive Edition, another updated version of an old game. It has a tutorial campaign, lots of DLC, skirmish against AI opponents, an active community and plenty of difficulty levels. Have fun!
Heck, for a mere example I still have all the CD-DVD for the 1st RA and all related DLC expansions upon my old tech' cabinet and only kept the free versions of C&C upon digital format when those were made available to the general public.
Even despite C&C inevitably stappled the RTS genre for years, my still real favourite upon that genre still is the 1998's StarCraft-BroodWar (SC-BW), rather well 3 different races balanced game, and to a similar extent the not so well known Supreme Commander (Sup' Comm) and its sequel Sup' Comm: Forged Alliance.
