This game is almost completely unplayable now.
Loading times are in the minutes just to get into a mission or skirmish, and when in game it's fine scrolling around the map but building anything, placing a building, or activating any ability involves a 5-10 second engine "lock up" where nothing happens.

It started about three months ago, I assume some kind of rendering bug that will never be patched or fixed.

I guess it's back to the old games for me then? Shame really.

have you looked into your system to make sure drivers are updated and that your system is clean? Nothing has changed as far as updates to the game as far as I know that would have caused this on the game's end

I've been doing the basic troubleshooting, game still performs poor.

Updating windows/drivers
Verifying and reinstalling the game 3 times
Resetting and tinkering with local settings
Tried turning off save sync
etc.

Earlier this year the game ran perfectly for me.
I have 100 plus hours in it.

Does anyone else have similar problems?
Or perhaps a solution?

What hardware are you using?

I found a post here in Steam discussions about some players with the same problems.
They have similar hardware as I have.

We all use a AMD RX 6600 or 6700 Graphics card or something alike.
Combined with an AMD Ryzen CPU.

We used to have good game performance up until the upgrade.

Edit: Spelling/grammar fixes

Aha! Yes i'm using a 3700X w/32GB DDR4 and a 6600XT. So something broke likely on AMD's end.

Yeah, as seen in the other thread "Lags in the menu" I have the same problem and I'm also on AMD hardware (see the other thread for additional specs). I unfortunately haven't found a solution yet. I have a new NVME SSD from Samsung as well so that can't be the problem. It also started at around spring (march or april) and I didn't change anything hardware related only updated the drivers (always with a clean install). I'm also on Win 11 now but I had the same problem when I was still on Win 10.

I was able to get perfect 2K resolution performance on another Ryzen system with a different brand GPU.
(AMD Ryzen 7 2700 combined with nVidia T400)
Both systems have the game installed on SSD.

So I am also guessing it's an AMD driver thing.
I have the same issue and it started 6 months or more back. Here is what I have tried with no success. First off System specs, note nothing is overclocked or undervolted:

AMD 5800x CPU
AMD 6700 GPU
16 gigs of ram.
Newest bios
Fresh install of windows 10 w/ updates
Newest chipset and gpu drivers.

I suspect this is either windows did an update that broke thing or AMD did an update.

The solution might be to find a driver a year or so old and try it out. I'll report back if i have success.
I HAVE A SOLUTION FOR AMD GPU USERS.

Here is what I did.

First I grabbed the May 10th 2022 drivers.
https://www.guru3d.com/files-categories/videocards-ati-catalyst-vista-win-7.html
Scroll down till you find them or one that works.

Next we want to remove our current drivers. Use this. https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-601

Restart your computer.

Then install the old AMD drivers that we downloaded above.
Next I installed the latest AMD chipset drivers.
https://www.amd.com/en/support Look on the bottom left, click chipset and select your motherboard chipset.

If you do not know it type SYS and hit enter in the search bar on the bottom left and it will bring up your system info.

Look for "system model" it should say something like X570. That is your chipset for an AMD system.

Download and install the latest chipset.

Restart.

Pray.
Note I have recreated this problem on an AMD 6700xt and a 6650xt.

Thank you for trying out switching to an older driver CobraCommander but sadly this is not a good solution for other games as newer drivers are benefical to them. So I wouldn't roll back only for one game. Maybe AMD could be doing something about this in their graphics driver if someone reported.

I wonder if PG's GlyphX has been updated recently...

For anyone interested: I reported the problem now with the AMD bug report tool in the Adrenaline software. If anyone could also report feel free to do so, so AMD knows I am not the only one.
Hrodebert Nov 7, 2022 @ 12:06pm
I've also reported the problem to AMD.
