G key (guard) does nothing

Pressing the G key to put my troops into guard mode does nothing. When I played C&C back in the 90s I swear they used acknowledge the command and enter a guard mode. I hear the key clicking sound and that's it. Am I missing something?

Did you accidentily unbind G key ? Probably not, but it doesn't hurt to check it out...

Yea, check the key bindings. And if all else fails, you can always just use ctrl+alt+click instead; it does the same thing.

You're not trying this with a commando, are you? They are hardcoded to ignore area guard commands, and can only be controlled manually.

The keybind is set to G. No, just general usage. I'll try the Ctrl+Alt thing.

They should go into guard mode. They won't stay in it if you issue them another movement command. Everytime you move them you have to press guard again. I recommend moving it to a better key within better WASD range. F works good for me.

Hehe, I think that depends on hand size, I can get to g with no issues, h is just about in reach :p

I've noticed the same thing. I checked that the key was bound to G.

That is not the same issue, start a new thread and list specs, what you have tried to fix the issue and what the actual error is (that link does not work).
