Trouble playing via LAN with mods using Radmin VPN
My friends and I wanted to play with some mods online. Since LAN mode allows you to use mods on Skirmish I've seen suggested to use a service like Radmin or Hamachi to connect to others and be able to play. However once we are all setup and connected, have all the correct mods ticked, the game fails to load, gives them a "Lost Connection" error, and loads the game to a black screen for me, the host. Playing via the VPN without mods loads just fine, and playing singleplayer with all the mods active works as well, so it seems trying to play LAN with any mod ticked is the issue. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Does LAN mode with mods works for you? Thanks

Maybe mods are not available in Online Multiplayer in order to avoid "punks" and "cheats".
Maybe your friends does not have the same "mod" installed in their computer. Have you tried several modes ? . In fact, the game can detect if you are using VPN, because your friends are not in the same IP range as your computer, so event if you mount a Virtual LAN using a VPN, you're not in the same network as your friends.

A other suggestion is that since "mods" are not verified, COmmand ANd conquer team don't want to be responsible for infecting other computers since mods can contains viruses, backdoors etc.., so they simply disable the option.
Check this out :

No, the issue is that the Remaster's multiplayer is server based. This means that for mods to work in online play, said user-made modified game executables would have to run on EA's servers. There's your security risk.

They specifically implemented LAN mode to give people a way around this restriction.

That's nonsense. The devs specifically added LAN mode to allow people to play mods over VPN this way, so whether the game can "detect it" is completely irrelevant.

And VPN literally means "Virtual Private Network"; it makes the connected computers act 100% like they are on the same LAN. That's its very purpose.

Yes mods work fine in LAN locally or over the internet using Hamachi. I have done this many times.

Did you ever encounter a time when it didn't work? You just start up Hamachi, everyone connects, then start the game in LAN mode with mods ticked and it works? I'm not sure what we're doing wrong

i've never had an issue where mods weren't working, can u all connect and see your games no problem? Is it only the mods not working in game? Maybe someone isn't using the same exact mod you are? Everyone has to have the same exact mods with same exact mod settings, if the mods you are using have an ini with settings. The only trick I have that helps see the games thru vpn is setting the Interface Metric for hamachi vpn adapter to 1 on all clients...then there is no issues seeing each others games and connecting to each other. Firewalls can block someone too, most cases i just setup the firewall correctly but when others have trouble they just disable the firewall while they play. I can't give any advice on different vpn clients be because i only use hamachi. sounds to me like someones connection might be blocking others from connecting.
