You can buy The Ultimate Collection on Origin to get most of the C&C games. And also, this remastered collection.
Overall, it's a nice game, but unfortunately, balance patches for multiplay messed up the singleplayer campaign, making it a lot more difficult than it was supposed to be. There's a mod to fix that, though.
Any point in getting the remastered collection when I already have the 17 original games from the Ultimate Collection on Origin?
Is there any benefit to getting it on origin over the cncnet website? Is multi-player even still supported for it?
Just overall the reason I liked that one the most and spent most of my life on that game was the flow and feel of the game was better and a lot smoother and gameplay was a lot faster. I also really enjoyed the overall look of the game.
I think the last c&c game I even knew was upcoming at the time before life went downhill was a game that almost everyone hated, renegade. 🤢 just to give you an idea of just how long ago it was that I even played the series.
I have played ra3 on my ps3 but other than for that idk. Which of the more modern cnc games would you recommend if tiberian sun/firestorm isn't available for multi player?
You need those Community patch to get them working on newer computers, It worked for me, at least.
The oldest three games in the series; C&C1, Red Alert 1 and Tiberian Sun, have been released as freeware. For those games, you will find both full game install packs on cncnet, and (offered as default downloads) stripped-down multiplayer-only versions.
If you want to play Red Alert 2, though, or any of the later games, you need the pack from Origin.
The CnCNet community developed patches to make the old games run on new systems. These patches are included in the full game installers they offer, and in their online-play only stripped-down versions, but they are also available as separate patches that can be applied to the Origin installation. But the amount to download will be the about same whether you download from Origin or from CnCNet, so for the freeware titles, it's probably simpler to get the patched CnCNet ones right away.
