skirmish AI
I used to love setting up a tower defense map when i was a kid (particularly in Red Alert), however when i try to do this in the remaster the AI seems to stop almost everything after a short time. once i defeat a few waves they just stay stuck in their base. Anyone have any suggestions for how to stop this or fix this? thanks in advance.

The AI are always like that in the original game, where they stop building and starts selling near-death buildings once they're broke. You won't find AI like this if you play on a map with tons of ore everywhere (unless you destroyed their income) or there's probably a mod that makes the computer better.

For some reason, skirmish AI for me is really easy. Especially if there is more than one, they usually fight amongst themselves while I build up, then it's like a steamroller fest on the AI. I've beaten 3 hard AI skirmishes in 20 minutes before like this. I wish there were bigger maps, and set teams... maybe there is I just don't know how to set it up in Tiberian Dawn

you can set teams least in RA you can

Ehmm they don't need to run out of money on the map to get stuck, they seem to always manage to ahve their units get stuck on eachother due to the pathfinding inside their own base including their oretrucks and thus end up just sitting around unless you actively kill the units that gets blocked. The more and tighter chokepoint on the map the quicker it happens. Try play all that glitters, and the game will barely have started before they get themselves stuck 9/10 times

Have to admit on Red Alert skirmish I find myself actively helping the AI to further the game... I've sent an airstrike or two to remove a random unit blocking an enemy's Ore Refinery, or a Medium Tank having a stand-off with an enemy Harvester on a bridge.

I'm hoping there's going to be a worth while patch or RA Workshop update at some point to refresh the AI or even bring a new Brutal level to Red Alert. I've been hoping since a kid that the AI dare to build a Naval Yard lol

Any news on a real skirmish mode against ai in this game?

I did buy this fullprice and the ai on skirmish is the worst Ive seen in in the last 20 years (from Nintento64, Gamecube and PC games). Much time passed and many patches later, nothing did change...Im very disappointed about that @EA @Devs.

I am pretty sure they're keeping the AI stupid for authenticity's sake. OpenRA has smarter AI though, so you could play that if you wish.

I did buy this game and I mean its called "Command & Conquer™ Remastered", so I expect basic things like a simple skirmish mode with ai to work, especially from a strategy genre dev+publisher team with a decade+ of experience. This is not their first strategy game, it should have been the smartest ai of the game industry related to their knowledge and company sizes.

Looks like I have to buy the next "remastered" version of their old games much much cheaper if they cannot serve a minimum quality for an old game with replaced graphics.

Much cheaper? you don't get much game at all for less than €19.99...

Dear lord, the AI NEVER worked. And it's freaking $20 bucks. That's 1/3 the price of an average AAA game.

They NEVER promised MENSA-level AI when they remastered this, only better visuals and sound.

But hey, if you wanna hate on an apple for not tasting like an orange, that's on you.

Minimum quality--yeah right. Go play your FREE OpenRA instead and get a refund for this.

Jeez, do the words "caveat emptor" even mean anything now?

Fanboys all the time, Im bored.

20 Euro for an old game with replaced grapics in 2D style is a lot of money. Also, they were getting money from me back the 2 decades allready. A working skirmish mode in 2020 from an dev and publisher team that is known from strategy genre is everything I can expect.

This skirmish is so buggy and non-functional, it feels like a pre-alpha version in which one developer tested some lines he did in the first 10 min at his first day on the game. Its a shame how worse it is.

I heavily regret that 20 euro on it, thats a dissapointed job on the so called "skirmish" "software" "feature" + their decision to leave it like.

I can see it now. The Westwood people go back into the code, and write the most diabolical AI they can come up with. It carries out the optimal build order perfectly. It can micro all of its harvesters simultaneously to optimize collection and field regeneration. It spams light tanks and recon bikes, and can also micro every single one of them perfectly and simultaneously to completely destroy you and make you regret you ever asked the developers for better AI =P

Off course you should regret after acting silly. It's like you need to buy a car but instead you buy a washing machine and complain you can't drive it to work. People say it's not meant to be a transport and then you call them washing machine fanboys. You obviously didn't read the FAQ - READ THIS POST IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT REMASTER INCLUDES. Well, let me paste it here for you...

10. "I don't like remasters, why not make an entirely new remake?"
Answer: "Because not everyone likes remakes, they have a risk of changing too much of what already works, and the originals are still worth preserving in a more stable and supported format than just being held alive by unofficial community patches that might not work for more people."

12. LULZZ this is bad...
Answer: If you really didn't followed the development of the remaster, then do it again, but this time by actually reading articles and watching all videos. If you readed the articles etc etc then well its your opinion.

15. Will balance in multiplayer be the same as in original games?
Answer: Yes but actually no.

21. I am skeptical about the remaster... (obsolete)
Answer: You may be skeptical about the remaster being a cashgrab or whatever you call it, but please... don't spread it on forums in negative way...

22. 20 euro (or usd)?! It's too expensive!!!
Answer: You have two options.
1. Wait for a sale and then, buy the remaster
2. Play the free original games. (www.cncnet.org)

29. why harvesters ai sucks?
A: Harvester's ai was s**t even in og games.

I hope that will answer your questions.

Unifromed people that don't do their research all the time, Im bored.

Seriosuly the whole it is onyl a reskin argument been thrown out SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many times by now and been explained why it is not true just as many times, so go look up any one of the other threads with a siilar topic for an explanation of how the game is NOT just "replaced graphics"

I'd be pissed if they didn't tell me what I was getting. BUT THEY DID.

I bought it, knowing the AI would still be stupid. It's a museum piece for me, a historical record of how far we've come.

If you're told a vintage car model would be re-introduced with modern materials but still no power steering, you have no right to complain that it's hard to steer if you buy it. You. Were. Told. And. You. Still. Bought. It.

If you didn't read the press releases or FAQS, that's YOUR problem.

Regardless of whether or not anyone is a fanboy is irrelevant, and has no bearing on your negligent failure to do the research.
