Units not following commands in Red Alert
Not sure if its jsut me, but I've noticed that units tend to not follow orders on a single click (using rmb scheme). If you spam click they will, otherwise they usually tend to chill in place.

Most notably I've found when using the Soviet Hind, it does not actively track it's target very well. It will go to the place where it's original attack command (so the initial location of the unit being attacked) was, unerringly. Once there it will readjust its destination. Even when actively commanding them (again, spam clicking) against the target, their limited firing range makes them have to constantly be manually readjusted for optimal interception of their target. Additionally, when selected in a group, there seems to be about a 20% chance that one of them will ignore the initial takeoff command and stay grounded (at least when launched directly from the helipad).

Just curious to see if anyone else has had this issue :)

Oh yes, the AI for this game is from 20 years ago, it's notoriously bad. Good for its time but its time was 20 years ago.

Old skool 90s/early 00s pathfinding.

Got micro manage hard and well.

Some units are useless and others have awful pathfinding. Harvesters had a small patch and they are a bit better.

Most of the time when my units not following commands, it's in Tiberian Dawn early game where I build 5 minigunners and immediately order them individually to scout around, usually 1 or 2 guys will not move and just chilling in front of the hand of nod until I gave them a second command. I remember this happened in C&C Generals many times as well.

Yeah I'm familiar with the AI behaviour, I played the original way back when. Just didn't recall units requiring multiple commands sometimes to get things done. One thing I notice that used to be present but doesn't seem to be is the ability to repair a group of units at once. Originally if you selected a group of vehicles and sent them to the repair pad they would automatically cycle any damaged ones through the pad and repair them all. It's a bit tedious doing maintenance without it :( Still love this/these games to pieces though :)

Odd, they still do for me.

Yeah there are several times where units die like crazy due to either friendly fire or something not accepting commands. Worst one is the missile truck you get with Soviet units. I tend to get my infantry cleaned out by my own unit. That or bridges get destroyed even though I’m clicking them away. Then there are missions with tight passages and often times a rogue unit decides to drive around the map where the enemy base is.

I remember having sleep overs with my friend when this game came out in the 90s. We’d take turns completing one mission and we’d have lots of cussing and screaming with the messed up ai.

The the AI is F**king retarded at times. I was playing console mission 9 and there in this little bridge you have to cross at the start in which has a tree on front.

I had to reply the mission like 6 times because my flame tanks decided by themselves to torch the tree killing half of my infantry via friendly fire in the process:steamfacepalm:..
