Remaster Update and July Beta Patch
Fellow Command & Conquer fans,

Today we are inviting you to try a Beta version of our in-development patch, which most importantly includes an early version of LAN Play. Our goal in sharing this Beta version is to get your feedback on LAN Play and ensure this feature is living up to your expectations. We’re looking for both qualitative and technical feedback on the feature, especially with regards to playing multiplayer LAN games with Mods enabled (either locally or over VPN). We reinforce this is an early version, and certain elements (including AI) may not work correctly in LAN play just yet.

Everyone who owns the Command & Conquer Remastered Collection on Steam is able to participate in this Beta version of the game. Please follow these steps to gain access:
  1. Go to your C&C Remastered Collection page on Steam
  2. Click on the Manage button (gear icon)
  3. Select Properties
  4. Navigate to the Betas tab
  5. In the dialog box, enter “TDRABetaPatch1”
  6. Click Check Code
  7. Once the code accepts, select the “Public Beta” branch from the drop down menu
  8. The game will now update to the Public Beta version, at which point you can play
  9. At any time, you can update back to the standard live version via the same drop down menu

Please note, there are several dozen other improvements in this Beta version, which we’ll list out in more detail when the patch is officially released. However, please keep an eye out for these key items:
  • The ability to choose the speed of Tiberium / Ore regrowth. This is now a slider in the game rules section. (0 being disabled, 1 being default, and 2-9 being multiples on default). We’re eager to see if this feature satisfies requests from the community, and we’re also looking for feedback on what the new Quickmatch default regrowth setting should be.

  • If you saw increased framerate stuttering or launch crashing after the June major patch versus the launch version, we have an experiment you can try:
    1. Go to your C&C Remastered Collection page on Steam
    2. Click on the Manage button (gear icon)
    3. Select Properties
    4. On the General tab, select “Set Launch Options…”
    5. In the box, enter “NOSPLASHPRELOAD”
    6. Click OK and launch the game
    7. This will effectively revert the texture optimizations we made in the June Patch, and may help performance / stability with certain hardware configurations (This launch option will also work with the standard live branch as well)

Please note, while playing in the Beta version, online play will be disabled and certain mods may not be compatible. Please play the Beta version and alter Launch options with caution and understand there may be a risk.

We’re looking forward to hearing your feedback on LAN Play and other improvements.

Cheers,

C&C Team

This is great.
I wish there was an option in the game rules in skirmish mode to play with an already revealed map. That'd be great!

I think that using a slider to determine the tiberium regrowth rate is a good design decision. d-(^.^")

Playing a LAN game, I cannot see opponents units or buildings.

Had a couple of test games so far. Things I have noticed.

The resource slider is excellent. really much needed addition.
The jukebox seems to be much more randomised which is very good as it used to always cycle between just a few tracks

ON TD
The GDI warfactory animation seemed messed up in that vehicles now come flying out of it in different directions instead of them waiting for the doors to open and driving out of the front.

Advanced guard towers and the mammoth tank missiles make no explosion sound when they impact the ground or target. This really affects the feedback of the weapons and I hate it. I hope it is just a bug and not done on purpose. I assume the same can be said for any weapon that uses the same effects such as MRLS

Nod AI seem to now be building enough power to power their base defences but apart from that the AI remains utterly horrific :(

ON RED ALERT
Resource slider is even more noticeable in game than in TD :D

The war factory has the same bug that the GDI one does in TD when vehicles just come flying out before the doors even open :(

no noticeable change to ai

When AI got defeated a never ending loop of AI was defeated started in the in game messages about every 2 seconds including the beep of new message. This is seriously annoying.

I will play more games to see what else I notice.

Cannot see friends in lan lobby

Btw if you are adding such settings like speed of ore regrowth, then you could add the custom settings from cncnet lobby. For example multiengineer, short game, superweapons, no dog engi eat, build off ally, destroyable bridges, etc.

"Some annoying "bugs" are still remain in tiberian dawn remastered. If you select more units and you move them to a repair bay or into an apc or chinook helicopter, only the first unit moves and the others stay where they are."

Please, could you implement a QoL feature that makes you draw a line with the Sandbags/walls, and they will be built accordingly with the direction and price and build time?

Instead of one by one, make a line, no balance changes, not Tiberian Sun style of simultaneous wall, just a QoL to save APM. Not an unlimited line, because it could be abused, but a line of 3 or 5 would be fine. I say this, because no one uses walls. Thanks.

AI seem to be a bit more dynamic, but vs 3 AI FFA one of them sold buildings too early. Warfactory animation was weird. QoL request: Apache / Orcha auto-shuffle low ammo crafts to heli-pads. Would also be nice if air craft stayed in the air and was given vision in the fog of war (ref. open RA's solution to air craft).

If the alarm level is red, the ingame workshop on the maps is still very slow and hangs up in between. Please fix that.

Sometimes, very rarely, I cannot scroll down on a map, only up. This seems to be unaffected by the patch. I haven't been able to reliably reproduce this however. It seems to happen with a combination of alt+tab ing out of the game and going back in and loading or restarting maps.

how to force-install this patch? I am getting crazy with this, one time I have the side bar, the other I do not... I hope this patch helps

I hope they fix the messed up achievements.

Wow, this NOSPLASH thing can fix the crash on Linux :)

^^ I'm using it just to get the original load times back. No issues so far.
