Looks bad on 1440p.
Does anyone else have a 1440p monitor and noticed that it looked blocky compared to 1080p. I literally don't know what the problem is. 1440p looks blocky and 1080p looks smooth. Wasn't that a big selling point for the game? 4k sprites?

Maybe someone does know a way to fix it.

Thx in advance.

Anyone?

1440p here. Learn how computer graphics and sampling work. The engine doesn't use a filter or mipmaps when zooming out. If you zoom in too much it looks blurry, if you zoom out too far sampling artefacts occur because the sprites have to be scaled down. If you want to avoid this, play arround with the zoom levels to find the sweetspot where the sprites are scaled 1:1. On 1440p this is a bit too zoomed in and as you progress in the game you are going to end up zooming out anyways.

I dont have the time to learn how computer graphics and sampling works.

Could you take some screenshots? I don't have a 1440p monitor (tops out at 1080p) so I'm curious just how bad it looks in comparison.

1. Try the improved zoom mod on the workshop. It works a treat for me.

2. You didn't even give it an hour. This isn't Reddit.

I'm using a 1440p monitor and it was the first thing I noticed. There seems to be scaling artifacts on everything when using a 1440p resolution. Everything has a rough edge. Some people may not notice it, but it really bothers me. I couldn't really test the 4k resolution as my monitor doesn't seem to downscale it correctly in this game for some reason so I'll be getting a refund which is a shame.

I tried to grab a couple of screenshots showing the issue. 1080p looks much cleaner:

Yep, it looks ugly if you're not on the exactly right zoom level. Even so, it's far from pixel perfect. The game uses nearest neighbor filtering on in-game textures. A toggle for linear filtering (ideally with mip-maps) would really help. This is a huge oversight and I was hoping it would be patched a few days after the launch. Apparently not.

Same issue reported here https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/Uneven-nearest-neighbour-scaling-used-on-units-structures-but/td-p/9194687

There is a pixel-perfect mod for TD: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2192025165 and for RA: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2192045476 that tries to fix this bug.

Unfortunately there appears to be code in the game that acts as a sort of anti-cheat which forces the minimum zoom level to 1.0 (instead of the 0.9875 required for pixel-perfect scaling) on campaign missions.

I don't have an EA account so unfortunately I can't upvote the bug there, but it would help if you upvoted this comment on Reddit in the hopes that Jim Vasella will see it: https://www.reddit.com/r/commandandconquer/comments/i8jaco/new_update_launching_today_and_patch_notes/g2qji5r/

It would actually need some community council members to bring the message in the private development forum.

I'm pretty sure the clamping happens not because of some anti cheat measures, but simply because the map is too small. The first maps in the campaign are tiny, but try a later mission or basically any map from Covert Operations and it should be fine.
