Island Wars Extreme?

I went to go try this map again since the old days, and noticed this doesn't have the giant ants in it. I could be remembering wrong, but I was pretty sure this map had the giant ants that would attack the players. Bummer if it was removed.

The ants are present, they just feel like they have a longer initial spawn time and seem to be rather passive once they do show up.

Hmm, I'll have to try it again. I remember back in the day me and my friends would get overrun by these giant pests. Good fun.

I recall the ants being pretty passive in the original also. They would just pile up at their spawn point, and I would have to go clear them out with air units every once in a while.

Playing Red Alert on First Decade, the ants were mostly passive at their nest, though sometimes a few will go for your base. I played 1 skirmish game on this map before and one of the ants picked up an MCV crate and it built a base like a normal AI. Though you don't need to destroy it since it still belongs to the neutral faction.

Hrm, that's weird. I remember the civilians in The Hills Have Eyes once picked up a MCV in a crate, but they didn't do anything with it.

Is there another Island Wars Extreme map I'm not seeing? I see Island Wars Extreme (Mega) and I've played it several times and looked at the replay after and there's no Ants. :(

Played Island Wars Extreme the other day with my friend. I can confirm that ants ARE present, however they are also passive. I don't remember the ant passivity being in the original, but it was so long ago and the pathing is so crazy that maybe units just travel by and pick them up causing the attacks. Fortunately The Hills Have Eyes have the same murderous denizens and behavior.
