They provide a buffer.

Reasons Red Alert 2 and almost every other itteration after that removed Silos. They are useless.

Just a buffer like he said. You don't want to have your harvester dump off only half a load on a trip. When you are spamming tanks it's not much of an issue but when you keep a little cash for repairs they help. So not much help, just a little. Building a second refinery is a better option to help your very necessary canned spam operations.

Besides having 1 or 2 as a buffer, they are pointless yes.

in the original SP campaign, some of your money carries over to the next mission, so it was good to build a few and get a bunch of money. I don't think that happens anymore though.

That was indeed removed. Also, credits stored in silos would not transfer - only cash in the bank (e.g. cash you start with or get after cancelling something) would.

not true.

In several different games there have been times I was harvesting faster than I could spend. In fact, in my last Red alert skirmish today I had to build silos even though I was building Mammoth tanks, missile subs and migs atthe same time..

Get three or more harvesters working a gem field and you get crazy cash. Blue tiberium yields the same results.

It is also a legit Strategy i use in the Campaign to get Money, i just overtake Enemy Silos with an Engineer.

In Red Alert campaign, I use them in a daisy chain to expand my base to other ore fields

They look pretty
ProvenSupreme Jun 16, 2020 @ 6:09pm
You can use them to expand in tight spots

The ability to queue units kinda renders them unnecessary.

I never make them. I just queue up like 30 tanks.

I try to have 2x harvesters per refinery which fills my coffers quite quickly and the silos are cheap expansion that means it doesn't go to waste.

build a couple as a buffer, that's about it really. C&C 3 got it right though, harvesters just pause when you hit your storage capacity (unless you are Scrin)
